Yep... After 5 minutes of play in thievery, I get them. My packet losses are going so high I can barely play. So I'm asking you all...
What could cause a packet loss? I'll just try finding the source of this problem, but until then... Playing is impossible for me.

Packet loss can be caused by a number of things. Bad connections in your own network, transmission power levels being off in your ISP's network, or some problem at some node in the route to the server you're connecting to.
Does this happen on every server? Or only one, or a select group? Try running traceroutes to the IP's of various servers to see if something's wrong "out there". Barring that, call your ISP's tech support and explain the problem to them.

Yes, turn off Kazaa while you are playing.

I always close kazaa, or else the boring ads show up.

I was playing with my friend on a closed 1 megabit home network (yeah the tech is old, and yes I said one megabit). In 1.2, we would play fine, no problem. A few days ago we were playing on 1.3. The version is the only thing that changed, and I, on the non-hosting machine, was getting the network icon 50% of the time (steadily blinking), or 100% of the time. Netstats was not keyed, so I couldn't inspect what was going on. My ping was about 150 and was steady, so I'm guessing I was getting packet loss. Movement and stuff in-game was tolerable to very bad. I'd like to stress that the only thing different was the version of Thievery. Nothing else was talking through the connection.
Also, why are there fewer servers up? I got one one time and there were only TWO servers up, and one of them was private!! Is 1.3 causing servers to crash?
