Goodmorning, afternoon, evening or goodnight.

First of all I'd like to say that I posted this thread in the general section because it's more of an announcement then a mapping topic. If the mods don't like this, they can move it to the mapping forum though.

About the map, TH-Intro is not an official map and it's not the new intro map for thievery 1.5. It's a very old project by myself that I recently picked up again. All the instructions on how to get the intro map as your start-up map for thievery are included in the zip file. Either in the readme or in the tutorial page by omega you will find the information needed to change your current start-up map. If, somehow, you still have problems running the map or if you find bugs or any other wierd things please do report them in this thread. The only known bug at this point is that the camera is stuck if you go into the preferences.

Th-Intro is an alternative map for thievery that has also has updated credits. If I forgot any names in the credits I'm sorry for that. I simply don't have the outstanding memory to remember all the new teammember since thievery 1.3 .

Thanks to everyone who I bugged with looking at the map and who were forced to give their opinion, to make the map better.

Ok, from two people now I hear that the skybox is messed up. first time I heard it it could have been due a faulty thievery install ... but it seems more have this problem. I'll try to fix the problem, eventhough I can't see it myself so it's hard to fix.

Check it out people, it is good. :) Did you fix the torches Phae?

I have no clue what's wrong with the torches and that's also something I can't see on my computer. I tried a different driver, other then my current OpenGL, and it still didn't show wierd things with them. Two torches do disapear behind an object they're not supose to disapear behind ... but they come back after a split second.

This is vary cool. Be a real treat if the next patch featured updated maps that visually looked this highly polished :)

doesnt messing with the *.ini files stop you from being able to play online?

Radamanthus

no, because the .ini files contain your personal preferences. Every time you change a setting (from name, mouse sensitivity, etc. to your favorite server) it changes also.

It certainly doesn't stop you from playing online. Else I wouldn't have been able to play for 2 years now. It's not a needed file online, there can't be mismatch if you change this line. It's like the loadouts.ini or things like that. You can alter them to what you want.

correct, it depends on the .u files, the *.ini tell the engine how to work is a way i guess you could say it
Examples if you couldn't edit *.ini file:

EditPackages
ServerPackages
[URL] section
theres a bunch more, just about all the sections in the Gmae ini

Before I do anything with this map, do I actually have a startup map? Is th-intro for noobs to learn or is it for mappers to learn? Plz tell more Phae.

It's pretty much what the title says. An Introduction movie to watch about Thievery. I replaced the old intro version with this one. It's good, fun to watch.
For me, it shows what Thievery is all about. Watch it all the way through. It's like a mini movie. Good stuff Phae. :)

In the zip, there are instructions on how to install, very simple.

Its the opening screen, Convict. Instead of seeing the watchers and the spiders and the window that opens/closes, you can watch this instead.

And can I change it back if I want? I do like the current intro :)

I never noticed those problems either, so it must be a driver or install problem.

Nice map Phae, :)

Perhaps shug ... maybe I stole the idea from you or maybe I forgot about it and made it up all by myself. You will never know ;)
