No release date set. It's a Black Cat game so we can probably expect an announcement a week before it's released and no sooner :) :P

I can't understand why servers on H-L2 that use the "Multi kill" "Godlike" "Mo-mo-mo-monster kill-kill" and so on...Call them Quake sounds...I didn't hear such sounds in Quake :o (except for "Humiliation")

I can't stand those sounds either. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the HEADSHOT, Multi-Kill, Godlike, Mo-mo-mo-monster kill, etc. started with UT. I don't mind the sounds in an unrealistic, campy action style shooter like UT though.
But I hate it most in Counterstrike servers. I can't believe that server admins think they should host a game that attempts to be realistic and then add a ton of ridiculous UT sounds and force players to download .wav and .mp3 files for 10 minutes before they can join. Some CS servers even play the "HEADSHOT!" UT sound to everyone in the server for every headshot made. So basically for the first 30-60 seconds of a round a UT-voice is yelling HEADSHOT! at you constantly.
I've also been in Call of Duty servers that do this too. Allies and Axis battling it out, and some wierd guy yelling "HEADSHOT!"...wonderful...I'm almost positive that it's historically accurate.
If anyone here owns or admins a server you should never, under any circumstance add these sounds to it (unless it's a UT server, of course).

Mortal Kombat! apparently..
Well thats what the idea of the announcer was based on apparently according to my inside sources..

an unrealistic, campy action style shooter like UT though You're calling UT campy when talking about CS? :o
Btw, I love the announcer sounds in UT2004. I don't know about CS, but in UT2004 headshots are so rare that you love the "heeaaadshoot". Makes it much more satisfying. Same with the other ones like "rampage" and "multikill".

Ok I should have been more clear....I don't mean the whole idea of loud announcer thing...just those specific lines mentioned by Phantaloz and myself. Which I believe are from UT.
It is kind of interesting to think when it ALL started. It might be Mortal Kombat, or maybe Rock N' Roll Racing. But I have a feeling there is some other arcade game that I'm not remembering. The voice thing was hardware limited for a long time. Then suddenly there was voice in a lot of games once the technology got there. Anyone remember the Blades of Steel title screen?

You're calling UT campy when talking about CS? :o
First of all, I never said CS was realistic. I said it "attempts" to be realistic. There is a difference and I specifically chose "attempts" (and italicized it) because I knew someone would challenge me on that point.
Secondly, I'm not saying UT is a bad...in fact I like it, but I think it's an unrealistic futuristic, campy, action shooter. It's a well done game and the sounds and effects and everything work wonderfully for UT. But take those elements out UT and it's just annoying. Imagine playing AS and some random voice yells "MULTI-KILL!" when kill a group of aliens or yells "Mo-mo-mo-MONSTER KILL!" when you reach 20 kills on a map. It would be ridiculous and stupid and the same goes for CS or CoD or whatever.

Actually, playing with Baz and Text-To-Speech is very much like that ;)

I agree, they shouldn't be in other games, it wouldn't work and would be annoying.
But what the hell does campy mean then? I presumed it meant people camp in it. Happens far more in CS than UT, but you seem to think I was saying CS wasn't realistic, maybe campy means unrealistic?

Yeah...sorry about that. Webster says campy means (http://www.webster.com/dictionary/campy) :
3 : something so outrageously artificial, affected, inappropriate, or out-of-date as to be considered amusing
4 : something self-consciously exaggerated or theatrical
I like definition 4 the most. For example movies can be campy. I would describe movies like The Mummy, Starship Troopers, Army of Darkness or Batman as campy because they are designed to be unrealistic, like UT. It could be a movie or game that is just plain fun and doesn't necessarily ask the viewer to suspend their disbelief. But on the other hand if someone describes a serious WWII movie as "campy" that's probably a bad thing.
(definitions #1 and #2 by Webster have something to do with homosexuals...I never knew those definitions. )

Well I dont know about 3# 4#, but i knew about 1# and 2#!
Lets trade info!
And yes those UT voices in other games are so ghey.
Also, raising a similar point..
Why do people believe that EVERY SINGLE GAME HAS TO BE MADE INTO A HL2 MOD!!!

I probably won't use campy to describe a video game again. My bad. There's so much camping and gay play in online games that there is bound to be confusion. Haha.
