This is my last year of high school! *tear*
And damn, am I fucking pumped!! I can't wait to experience the world! This summer I spent 6 weeks in another state, living on a college campus, and I loved it. It was my first time away from home for more than a week. I loved being independent, taking care of myself, having so many kids my age just a stone's throw away.
"Hey, I know it's 3 am...but do you want to hang out?"
"Sure! I'll walk ten feet and come into your room!"
Anyway, I am entering the 2nd half of my senior year in high school, and I have been accepted early to Brown University, a pretty prestigious school in the states. I've known this for a while, but haven't told many. I don't even think many of my friends know about it. But I wanted to know...are there any Thievery players in Rhode Island? And - I know it's a stretch - are there any players in Providence? Damn, that would be sweet. :)

Dragons don't take drugs!, right Salsa?
Good job Drags! Anyway, what are you going to study? Something technical or something useless :P j/k Is it connected with your theatre/acting skills?
"Hey, I know it's 3 am...but do you want to hang out?"
"Sure! I'll walk ten feet and come into your room!"
How about:
"Hey, want to go for a drink?"
"What's the occasion?"
"Wednesday"
"Sounds good to me"

Dragons get high on life.
Use of Necromancy (http://forums.blackcatgames.com/showthread.php?p=115155#post115155) is a deciding factor on exactly whose life that is.

Congrats Dragon! I know exactly what you're talking about. I went through my senior year of highschool last year and through my first semester at college.
College is amazing, there are so many people who are similar to you. There's so much to do, it's just plain outright a friggin blast!
You enjoy being away for the first 3 or 2 months, but then you sort of miss what's happening at home (at least for me, I had a sister who won the state title in cross-country and a baby brother who started to walk). Living on college can put you inside a bubble. Instead of watching tv, you're doing other things so you can really miss wgat happening in the world news. And for me world news really wasn't a point of interest anyways.
But yeah...so now you can facebook (http://facebook.com) me ;-)

Dude- you didn't tell me!?
It's the last year of high school for a lot of us this year, and each of us will be going our separate ways. I'm headed off to Penn Sate main campus (6th in the nation for my field of study). They want me to start as a Junior, as long as I take the three or four underclassman courses i'm missing (yes, one includes a typing class), but i'd rather not skip the first two years of college.
Dragon's not hte only one of the D-town posse headed out of state- some of my friends are headed out as far as California, though they're the kids that are rich enough to come and visit back every few weeks. It's going to be tough, but I plan to keep seeing all the wonderful people i've met the past two years in high school, even though they're all heading out.

The world is vastly overrated. College may be great, but after that soon you'll get a job. Then have to get up early every morning and put your nose to the grindstone at work every day just to pay the bills. Then the next morning...same thing, and the next morning and on and on and on...
But hey, don't let me rain on your parade. Go...experience the world. LOL ;)

Congrats to all you graduates. Just be sure the party does not get in the way of why you are there. Every year I hear about those students of mine who flunk out because of the party....Puts on teacher hat..... I don't want to hear any of you doing that! :nono:

I have failed you littlek. You see, I lacked the motivation and I did poorly the first semester of college and now I'm on academic warning! :shameshame: (eh, clubs and partying may have played a role also)

I'll be left with one year to go for university to finish after this year. I'm with everyone else. Real life after high school sucks. Of course, I finished high school, and most of my good friends moved away, and I left for Basic Training.
One thing I foudn that was pretty awsome was occasionally going back to help out with events at my old high school. I'm a fairly frequent guest lecturer in my old high school, for the social studies class and debate team. Its great (in addition to the satisfaction of helping) because my old social studies prof/debate coach buys booze for his former students who help him out with those sorts of things. So if you occasionally head back to your old school (assuming you actually got along well with the staff there), its pretty phun. Yes, I said phun.

University was great for me, until the final year where it just got solid.
Work is fine, if you get a job you enjoy, I'm 50/50 with mine at the moment, it's too far away from home really but I do enjoy the work I do.
I hope you have as good a time at uni as I did!

I didn't have the greatest initial experience at university -- my bit of advice is don't be afraid to leave if it's not what you like.
I'm also like ninety minutes from Providence, I actually bought my desk there.

Ahahaha! So young, so innocent and pure! Bwahahahaa! You'll learn soon enough, for now just be happy that you don't understand what the fuss is about. Seriously. (This statement does not apply if your parents are millionaires).
Anyway, 'grats Dragon. :D

Though I am well aware that my high school years will be some of the best in my life, I'm excited for the change. Yeah, I know that the "real world" isn't all it's cracked up to be. But I am pretty eager to get out, meet new people, pursue what I love.
And visit WildBill at Amherst :o

Brown is unique in that, unlike pretty much every other college/university in America, there are no course requirements. So I can basically do whatever I want. I will probably be concentrating in something worldly like philosophy or literature, or perhaps something like psychology...whatever it is, it will be an area in which I can just spend time learning about the world and the people who live in it, different cultures, and the human mind and human emotion. Literature would be a great one for that. Basically, it's the human struggle, all packed into a concentration, if you go about it with that intention...
After that, I plan to get my masters degree in theatre. The more I know about the world and about people and human relationships, though, the better actor I'll be. The more I know, the more I can draw upon.

OH GOD YES
University is a blast. I would say my life quality in general has just about doubled since I started college this fall. As cheesy as this sounds, I also have much more of a will to live. All of what you mentioned is so awesome, and more! but i'll let you experience it for yourself rather than try and think of all the little ways college makes life so much greater than high school.
Good luck Dragon, Lotor, Gabe, and all you other PA bastards:P. Ya'll should come to florida lol. Laters

University isn't the abosolute win, but its not bad. Not bad at all (Four semesters in).
I'm rating it at "Pretty darn decent. Somewhat on the "I like it" level."

I've entered college this year, after high school. From the beginning it was... an adventure. Experiences, lots of new people... I couldn't believe that this was the real world, at first. So many chicks, too. Goddamn.
But, sure, do try recreational drugs.

Personally, I've found university to be the least worst of all the crappy options I have anyway. I still don't like it very much these days since my studying motivation has hit the negative side of the scope. Ah, the first years were so much more fun, but now I've pretty much studied through the personally more interesting stuff and what remains are just stale, crappy, mandatory boring stuff to go through. (I blame the poor selection of secondary stuff at my university, or not poor, just... unfitting for me ;) )

Okih, I don't have a facebook name just yet - I think I have to wait until I get my username from Brown, which probably won't be until June. I'll let you know.
Just search for my last name, Merrylees, this summer, you'll probably find me.
