when you hold down both of the shift keys and type the alphabet some keys are missing and it can vary between computer/keyboard.
Try it.
It doesn't happen on a Mac.
I'm using a ps/2 keyboard.

ACDEGIJLNRSTUVWY

EDIT:I'm going to theorize that by pressing both shift keys makes it so a circuit is completed before it can go through some keys, thus the missing letters. Open up your keyboard and see.

That doesn't really explain it. Well sorta.. but a shift key I would think is a bit different than holding 3 letter keys and trying to hit the "I-key". And why does it work for some is the question.

Try it.. on my keyboard, if I hold down A+S+D, my I key doesn't work.. but other keys do.. Does this happen the same for others?

At work I have an old dell PC with older keyboard.. and a new dell machine with newer keyboard.. The older keyboard works flawlessly and gives every letter.

The newer board gives only like 15 letters...

Cheapass dell cuttin corners i guess.

Same!!

To the key jamming... that's not just it...
Notice how you can only press 3 Keys down, otherwise you get PC beeps, however, depending on the location of the keys you can press down up to 6 at a time before the PC starts beeping... it's gonna be because they keys are connected in different circuits for different keyboard manufacturers. If you press 2 of each key in different circuits, you can get the max number pressed down...

I have to ask, why are these alphabets not in caps? Are you all holding down the shift keys on word or notepad and then retyping them here?

Baz
9th Sep 2006, 12:01 PM
Its probably because pressing other keys breaks the matrix making the keyboard think the shift keys have been released.

I thought we had an anti-caps filter on the forums.

ACDEGIJLNRSTUVWY

Maybe not.

And necros, I suspected it had something to do with the conductive keyboard matrixes. I had a keyboard that would beep if only the up and down keys were held. It screwed up being able to play quite a few games.

while in game hit shift 5 times - it should kick you out the game and give you the Accessibility Options window- click on the settings button - and in that tab for keyboard there should be at the top the sticky key box - hit the settings button - then untick the use shortcut box :) then click Ok then Apply in the Accessibility Options window

to turn back on go into control pannel - Accessibility Options - which gives you the same window as pressing shift 5 times :)

edit - you dont have to be in game, just press shift 5 times  :joking:

Press shift 5x in a row.

Some keyboards, as the logitech g15 are better than others for keylocking - I have seen some in the UK specifically advertising that feature.
