Better navigation through shadows.
Even though it is possible for players to increase lightning on a map to make the shadows more easy to navigate through, i often find it a pitty that shadows are so easy to look through when playing a Gaurd.

When switching teams in Thievery, i mess with the lightning alot, as a Thief i prefer walking through dark, but navigatable shadows rather then tea stains. And as a Gaurd, i prefer the stealthy feel so i pitch the lightning down again, leading to alot of annoyance because i keep on changing the lightning over and over.

But what if the Thief could have a vision that could pitch the shadows a just bit lighter for them ("Night eye" vision?) so they can navigate through it more easily, while playing Gaurd, the shadows are just as dark as you configured them? (Gaurds dont have this vision:P)
I myself am certainly not a player that plays Thievery at highest lightning and think this is a good idea.

I agree with this idea to some extent, but to be honest I think it should be dark for all.

It's early days with Nightblade, so much of the game is direct port material of UT and as such the old shadows "teastains" as you put it are there, and this annoys me too.

UT3 is capable of much much more than that, and I think the shadows shouldn't be a false blanket of translucent grey overlaying the areas to represent shadows. They should be dark, areas of pitch which one cannot see into without the aid of a light source. And it should be like that for both teams imo. I just find being able to see shadows as grey floor stains very false.

I definately agree that the shadows need to be much more cloying and atmospheric, but the needs of gameplay need to be carefully weighed against the artistic sides of things, otherwise you just end up annoying people.

Which is why i think this is a good idea, Thieves can turn it on and off to navigate through shadows while Gaurds will still experience the creepy and moody cloaks of darkness, so they will see Thieves disapearing into shadow, not turning transparent in daylight spots of darkness. (No offence ofcourse, i still LAN Thievery almost daily with my friends:))
