I barely walk past the door threshold in the guard armory and it goes off.
***This is in the 4/4/2008 release. At the time of this writing there was no option in the drop down.***

This is an intentional change to balance out whistler vision being directional and blocked by solid objects.

Glad you mentioned this, KAM. I set off the whistler from the floor above the armory. It's the top of the carpeted stairs leading down to the room with the chair. I think the range is too wide but I figured the fact that the whistlers aren't done yet is already documented.
If this is a feature that's going to be kept, I hope the whistlers won't detect thieves on the floors above them. Might be a bit difficult though considering the whistlers aren't on the ground in the armory, but rather up on a table. I figure if whistlers that haven't been activated yet are still going off, the whistlers are far from being finalized.

I should clarify: I'm talking about the guest house. KAM is probably talking about the guard room with the bunk beds and repair kits in it.

Well it shouldn't be happening through walls anyway. There needs to be a direct line of sight between whistlers and their target.

I haven't played NB for about two weeks, so I haven't checked for that whistler problem in a while, but I was definitely being detected by the whistlers in the guest house as I round the top of the stairs. I'd record a video of it but I can't get FRAPS to work on Nightblade. I've recorded a demo of a UT3 map but can't get it to do so for Nightblade.

Oh, well, two weeks is a long time. :)
