    SwarmCon08 @ AO-Minnesota "Insane, no-restart"

It's that time of year again; the bugs are out in full force...mosquitoes, that is!

    SwarmCon08
    Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
    July 1st - 8th, 2008
Rejected subtitles: "Google Summer of Swarm", "Son of SwarmCon"

Forum socialites NoData, DeLiRiUm, & Fuzzy_Bunny (as well as locals Andrew & BarmyBrad) will be in attendance at Swarm HQ (my pad) for a week of debauchery and activities other than vidya games. We'll keep you posted with pix, so it did happen.

Forum trolls Hybrid, Sgt.Apone, & Johnathan were invited via chain letter, but politely demured. They later probably became infested by parasites and were cocooned somewhere uncomfortable. If you don't want to end up like them, post your transfer request here, and join in the fun* (see below).

We'll be hosting a Swarm LARP at the Minnesota Zoo. If more than eight people are present, you may be asked to spectate (no laughing). First come, first Swurmed. (This will not actually happen.)

Seriously, though, on the 3rd evening of July, we'll have dinner at the one and only Joe's Crab Shack in scenic Roseville, MN, and Minnesota-area Swarmists of any age are invited to attend. Seriously; I dare ya. Door prizes may include peanuts.

    Not invited:

    (photograph taken at great risk)
    * should be fun unless someone triggers him early

    Calandar of future events:
    DNF Release Party 2009 "Rapture"
    AS:I Release Party 2010 "Dalai's House"
    (see what I did there?)

Handsome Moses Swarming School is a proud sponsor of SwarmCon08.

    Dammit. . .

Figures that I'd loose my job the day I get an invite like this. . .

    Maybe next year? :/

Lightbulb The prophecy has been foretold

Missions will be fraught with random players suddenly exploding for no reason.

    Glitches will be *wildly* exploited.

Double Shotgun inventory with only mines will be carried.

He will gladly take the blame as credit.

Those who recognize the vocal calls will know who they are dealing with.

The appearance will be sudden, unexpected but mildly pleasant.

One of two known Key hashes will confirm the terror to all who came before.

CoffeeBoss will walk among the swarm again.

John, you got the invite awhile ago, remember? (also, get Trillian, Miranda IM, Pidgin, or something that hooks up to both MSN & GTalk)

Forgive the short notice...didn't think about opening it up like this before now. I may have only met two other MN Swarminsts, so I'm unsure we'll get any takers.

Well normally a plan like this is usually done months in advance, or longer, to give people time to plan. Is all I'm saying.

My invites to stay a week were, indeed, sent months in advance to the persons mentioned in the OP. That what you mean? Or are you talking about the lunch invite?

Lunch invite, I've seen enough get togethers on other forums, and have been to them myself. *Usually* this stuff is done months before. To give people a chance to make plans, etc.

This way, reaction-time and fast-planning skills are tested, and perhaps honed, however.

Took years of planning for this.

Make sure pictures are of equal or better quality! (Notice that we found a perpetual motion machine which is gonna be HARD to beat man.)

If it was in Europe, I might attend.

Late notice or not at least he did something...give the guy a break!

Besides, even with advance notice who would really fly across the pond to be TKed by Moses at a swarm LAN?

Well i guess there are many people that would want to do so just to kick moses between his hairy legs
Regarding the weak US-Dollar (the whole trip roughly costs 3.99 €) i bet there will drop in at least 5 swarmers from the euro-zone to do so

So we are STRICTLY talking brits, and Europeans that would make it? Calm down would you, people are entitled to their opinions. What are you getting so uptight for anyway? Yes, he did something, I am merely stating an opinion. If you can't handle that.......

If he hasn't done anything like this before, and I am guessing he hasn't, correct me if I am wrong. What is so bad with giving input and opinions? This is a public forum. As Mach pointed out, their get together took years to plan.

I'm planning a trip to Europe hopefully sometime next YEAR. It takes planning. If you want people to attend, and show up, they need notice, and lots of it, especially if they are traveling more than just a few hours, that is all.

Something like this could happen again, and hopefully next time, more will show, with more advance notice. :-)

Trust me, I'm very calm. I'm just trying to give Moses a little support in his venture. Criticism is easy.

He does have the support. Just trying to get him to think ahead for a possible next time. Surely whatever the outcome, a good time will be had by all.

Thanks for the sentiment, Ran-bot, and the criticism was not entirely necessary, as it indeed appears there aren't many posting, Minnesota Swarmists around (and I'm not going to extend the "stay awhile; stay...forever" invite to just anyone).

    Touché.

Regardless, good luck with the "debauchery".

And remember, Alien Swarm + Lan is ten times moar fun when you are pissed as a fart. I mean, who really cares about those objective things anyway?

p.s. SwarmCon09 will be in my pants.
