    Alien Swarm Console Commands

    There are a few, about 3 so far that i know of console commands posted by the devs around this forum, i do not know if there is a source for them all, or not, anyhoo, if anyone finds any, post them here.

    Removes camera shaking when getting hit.


    EDIT: Would removing the image grain effect improve my FPS? I like the effect alot, but if removing it will improve my FPS then I'll want to do it.

    heh heh, i didnt notice that effect, nodata have you identified the other smiley, question mark and the call medic ones?

    just giving a runthrough in the console, found some intersting ones that do work (found a asw_door_healthbars but doesn't seem to want to work when set to 1)

    asw_fast_reload_under_marine
    Draws the active reload bar under the marine.

    Code:
    asw_flare_b
    asw_flare_g
    asw_flare_r
    Color of the flares (RGB)

    asw_ignore_need_two_player_requirement

    As with other source games, creating an "autoexec.cfg" file in "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\alien swarm\swarm\cfg" will automatically apply the changes when you launch the game.

    Damnit, now I need to make an auto exec. That includes asw_horde_override 1 because I cant stand the game without it on.

    3 - Stop
    4 - Go
    5 - Be careful
    6 - Anime Smiley
    7 - Ready?

    cl_emote with anything not defined will result in an anime smiley

    asw_door_healthbars x
    0 - no healthbars
    1 - healthbars on mouseover
    2 - always show door healthbar

    Played a full campaign through on Hard with skills enabled. Perfectly stable and actually increases the difficulty a wonderful amount.

    asw_ignore_need_two_players_requirement

    should be

    asw_ignore_need_two_player_requirement

    Hmm, need to do lots more testing on these.

    Update: These are flagged as cheats, meaning they can't be used in Multiplayer. Maybe Dalai will feel generous and change them to server side variables in a future patch, otherwise we're doomed to this silly absorption stuff.

    odd, was pretty certain it was like that in the console.

    and Warskull, i tried out the commands in-game, hovering over the door didn't show anything, but having the default (2) showed the health bars, and 0 pretty much did it's thing.

    I can't get "asw_fast_reload_under_marine 1" to stay at "1", unlike the other commands.

    Any ideas?

    I would be surprise if there any change in the future related to those options, as they change completely the game. The game would feel more classic, but some are unrelated; The sentry gun never killed a marines.

    Same, but it seems to last the entire round. So just bind it to a key and activate it before each map start. Maybe Dalai could enable that fonction?

    Serverside might be tricky given the erratic availability of dedicated servers which may or may not have it 'forced' one way or another - there are, after all, a number of L4D1/2 servers out there that force the difficulty to the highest level and disable all healthkit spawns to replace them with pills.

    Might be best if it was made a game option in the same area that the difficulty setting is in, or voteable;

    "Off" - No FF, period. For inexperienced players.
    "Absorption" - Default/release setting, for a little extra safety barrier/buffer.
    "Full"/"Classic" - No absorption or reduction of FF damage. Watch those shotgun blasts!

    I have this in my autoexec and it sticks and remains on without me having to even think about it. dunno why it doesnt stay for the two of you.

    Some interesting and amusing stuff in there. I trimmed out a few large/semi-useless bits like default equipment, skill adjustments and weapon damage vars.

    The "asw_wanderer_override 1" command is also a must. Once enabled, Aliens can spawn anywhere and come from any direction. I tried it after reading Stein's post and now I can encounter Drones right after leaving the landing pad!

    Dalai, is there any chance we could get asw_drone_zig_zagging and asw_drone_zig_zag_length released from their cheat flags?

    My contribution.

    Use these 3 together to get to play in a more traditional first person mode.


    Change camera angle to view in the first person

    Change control setup to work like normal FPS games with mouse aming and WSAD movement/strafe

    If anybody knows how to invert the Y-Axis after enabling te asw_controls 0 please let me know! I cant play without it inverted

    Also I have not tested this online yet only offline but I hear its flagged as a cheat. I humbly request if this is flagged as a cheat to have it released from cheat status. I totally plan to play the game line this instead of overhead once I figure out how to invert the y-axis.
