TuT easy to learn, but hard to master

    Just after release 1.3:

The greatest games are those that are easy to learn, but hard to master, with different playstyles being accessible.
Maybe I could make a mistake but did Neo said that Thievery had before 1.3 easy learning curve and hard mastering curve? Anybody can follow link to his original and uncutted post.

no, i believe he was simply talking about the nurfed blackjack that was added in 1.3, believe it was much easier to ko in 1.2 and it got harder for 1.3. so i guess you could argue it's an easier learning curve but it was altered for a reason and never added back in, you can still ko guards in full light, just takes a bit more effort

looks like the argument is down to overpowered guards/thieves and different playstyles, pretty impossible to please everyone in that regard

Yeah, yeah. KOing is going to learning curve, and not to mastering curve mainly? Hard to believe.
Neo's thought in general amused me, cos everybody say "learning curve" this and "learning curve" that, but at that time they could mean mastering curve. So when mastering ("learning") curve is steep this is good and not bad.

That's the whole crux of mods in general... nay gaming in general. Learning the game-mechanic and getting good at it. There isn't anything specific to TUT there other than TUT's got a more unique edge to its online experience in that the two opposing teams have entirely different strengths and weaknesses - its not alone with this though, Alien V Pred did this, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory did it as well.

TUT did it first though :O

Nice to hear this. In AVP and SC whinnings about steep "learning curve" were present too I hope.

Not so much in AvP but then its popularity is low in multi anyway due to really poor net code and menu system, and its a similar tale in SC.

I thought of another - Assassins Creed as well, and this also suffers from poor net code and menu system, in fact its the worst of the lot.
