    You Want 'em You'll Get 'em! Maps!

    Alright...I know that to most of you I am just a new guy --;;...but I think even you veterans will think this is good idea. But I've been around long enough to hear the ever so subtle whine for different maps and all these neat ideas people cook up in-game. Well, here at this thread you can post those ideas and (hopefully) the mappers will read these suggestions and ideas make them into maps! Everyone is welcome to make a suggestion and all ideas are valid, no idea is too stupid or ridiculous. So go ahead! Submit your ideas and discussions, lets have fun talking about what kind of maps we want!!

    I like EPIC maps. Maps that are LONG. It makes it more important to stay alive (long times between restarts). More rewarding when you beat it. More important to conserve ammunition. Hell, make the map so long that you NEED an ammunition cache (or TWO or THREE) somewhere along the way. And throw in some medkits and medpacks too... And lots and lots of things to jump on and climb. I like exploring.

    U been drop into a hot zone but the piliot has miss calcutored and u are way off The LZ.

    Threat extreme

    Object 1st: MAke it back to the LZ in one piece with Crash or Flynn
    2nd: Make ur way throught the rough terrain and enter a complex containing the launch codes to the 1000megatonne nuclear Missle.
    3rd: proceed to the launch pad for a tactical assessment.
    4th: Upload the data to launch controls and launch "Bessy" and give these scum crawing maggots the fireof1000suns.

    Map Design: drop in a open field hot zone (really bad defencive postion) head north to LZ and then proceed to bunker 24units away North follow the flares.
    The Complex small corridor sentry station rest rooms and storage plus a Tactical op Room (containing files).
    The Launch pad is 12000unit east of the complex defended by a outpost in the open infestion is zone THREAT!!! ALERT ALERT EXTREME.
    Start Uploading the files FLYNN OR CRASH MUST SURVIVE until the launch codes a upload to the Controls.

    Evac is 1024 unit out side it front of the outpost.

    MISSION COMPLETE

    these underground colony is the most important complex on this planet it MUST AND IT WILL NOT FALL. The swarm has regroup in an unnatural way and preparing an assualt, Our airstikes are doing the best they can to Destroy the swarms Assualt force but is having a hard time as ther fuel is low and so is our ammuntion. You have been dropped iright in front of the swarm assualt just outside the VaultCity. There r two lines of defence Both automatic sentry guns they are not set up yet do so now. set up a Strong defence and holdout till "bessy comes when she does u must be inside the complex or u can kiss ur arse goodbye.

    THREAT: To many xeno to assess the situation

    Objectives:1st set up parametre defence and wait for swarm attack there is a 15-20 minute wait MISSION-(Fireofa1000suns) is in progress at this very minute.
    2nd: Fall back into the complex pass the three vault door weld them shut and then processed to ground live and wait for the
    KABOOM!!

    MAP design: very easy outside area for hive to swarm and move them in to complex. COMPLEX is two layered wall with 2sentry guns at each Unset up plus there sould be some in the Guard house with ammo guard house jsut out side of vault door. Vault door is 8000units back of the walls.
    THE vaultcity entrance is 512units by 4096units proceed to each vault lock and weld them shut do this for all three then there is a room with with an exit zone onlyopens when objective are complete.

    I MIGHT START THIS ONE NOW

    I thought about suggesting city street maps earlier, but now Rehevkor is doing that so I’m quite happy ATM.

    I’d also like to se maps on a huge space ship, maybe a cruiser a la Titanic. This idea came from those newsflashes at the bottom of the AS site and that Douglas Adams project Starship Titanic, but without all his crazyness. I figure you could keep it quite varied with both cramped and open areas. Imagine cargo areas, engine and other mechanics complexes, cryogenic sleeping areas, normal leisure suites, casino’s, infirmaries, kitchens, starview lounges with partially windowed floors etc. Wow, I almost sound like a salesman here. Anyways, I had imagined a kind of posh look, interrupted by furniture barricades, shut emergency doors, bloodstains and other signs of violence. As you might have guessed, I want to do something like this myself. I’m just not seeing it happening anytime soon.

    Ok, so I got this awfully textured ugly box completely liberated from meshes and detail where I usually just shotty my mates so I can breathe properly. One step at a time now Leo, what to do next…

    Btw, I second Sniper. Anything epic in that sense would be really cool. It would suit a single map very well.

    There is a massive hive located deep with in the mountian under our own desertedreseach facility this HIVE was one of the main hives that assualt HAVEN. Unlucky for the hive but very lucky for us IT that the reaseach here was on antimatter bombs e.g (handgreands with a 1,000 times the nuclear threshold of a standard nuclear bomb). the reseach was successful both the bomb were never retreive. GO down ther get the bomb and go use them in the queens room were the hive of the hive will proceed and free up this SECTOR of the swarm.Haven assualt left the hive weaken so its the best time to attack.

    Threat : Hive City Queen and expect high threat levels.

    Object proceed for sevice elvator to resreachlab retreive bombs and then proceed to the queens lair. exscape !!!! while exscape after queens is died the swarm will be going into a frenzy of panic.

    Map: COMPLEX service elvator storage labs livings quaters airducks >>>> HIVE eggs room drone room tunnels Queens guard room Queens lair >>> Escape tunnels tunnels entrance EVAC 4000untis form exit

    Wait until you see what I've got planned This is actually what my first map was going to be like... I planned out the objectives and everything. Great minds think alike it would seem (yeah I hate people who say that too )

    hahah someone should make a fun map where its just a "see how long you can survive against the multitudes of hordes of aliens" map lol, just like a big box and the marines are in the middle and have endless amounts of swarms coming and coming and coming...

    I'm doing something like that, but it'll have an ending. Like a prolonged Salvage landing pad. Lots of scripted events.

    Hey, I began working on a luxury space cruise ship map 2 weeks ago, I'm still working on it and plan on getting it done in two more weeks. I have alot of the types of areas you mentioned (no casino yet though). Also, the ship I'm working on is not a "sleeper" ship, because it seems like, that type of ship wouldn't need restaurants, rooms and entertainment because everyone is in stasis so you would only have the bare minimum of rooms required for the crew.

    lol, cool, that sounds like it would be fun, a luxory liner's sos beacon goes off as a swarm attack catches it off guard...it would be cool if you could impliment something like a hostage system?? like civilians that are still alive hiding from the swarm! ooo...dat would be cool *drool...*

    Actually, that's exactly what I'd like to do, for now I'm going to try to just have one main survivor (by modifying Williams) that you need to rescue - a VIP from the Intergalactic Senate. If can figure it out though, I'll have additional survivors scattered around the ship you can rescue for bonus points, and some will help you out with info or items.

    aw man that would be so cool! i bet that would be so difficult tho ...you would need to make new skins i would imagine O.O...that would be really neat tho even if it is a lot of extra work hehe...

    hmm..another really cool idea would be instead of all these close quarter city street and back alley style areas why not something HUGE! like the onslaught maps from UT2K4, a map of something approx that size in which u impliment vehicles and you can drive vehicles...boy that would be bizzare but it might be pretty cool...of course there would most likely have to be more then just 8 marines for it to work >.< hehe

    Oh, you wouldn’t happen to have any cool screenshots to pimp right away?

    About the sleeping thing, I guess you got a point. But then again, when you’re on a luxury cruiser you sure want to get spoiled. So travelling great distances frozen doesn’t mean that you won’t spend at least a couple of days awake with the other guests. I also imagined people being able to do quick visits reaching the cruiser with smaller and faster ships. I sure got a wild imagination.
