As long as there are unbeaten maps, we will not rest.

Only a handful are left now. The harder ones, of course, but the word "impossible" has been used falsely too many times already in this thread.

Any chance you can update your first post, Carth?

I guess I never submitted these runs. According to the rules, I get credit for everything but Flightdeck. Maybe I'll work on that this weekend? Maybe I'll try my Greenhouse run again, too.

Well we all knew that from the start, that the remaining ones would be VERY hard to do. VERY used in the old proper sense, not in the new inflated one.

It is the challenge that drives us, what else.

BTW, I was the 1st to beat Ao-Depot, Carth. Of course, X-newbie also did that, and probably better than me, but I was the first. Why do I not appear in that list?

But apart from that, please keep me from going more into the obsessive reasons why we keep trying this. It is a challenge, as has been rightly said. If ever there was one. To do what no man has done before. To prove that 'insanely hard' still not equals 'impossible'.

For example, I have had several dozens of attempts at Pacman. Wakka wakka. Had it down to about 10 eggs several times, so I WILL beat it if I keep trying.
Same with Underneath. Elvis is a real bitch, but he CAN be beaten.

It is very much like juggling, if you ever tried juggling you will know what I mean: every movement has to be precisely right, else you fail.

I did Box of Doom on insane, once, I think. I think that was the name of the map. The one where you have to hold out for 20 minutes or something while misshapen aliens fall from the ceiling. And I still haven't received credit for Johnsmom.

After the umpteenth failure, I finally did it. Underneath is down at last.
Twenty minutes of preparation, and a fight over three minutes.

    Elvis has left the building!

    Indeed.
And a lot of equipment there is. Two ammo bags, Rifle, Sentry gun and stun nades.

Kept all ASG ammo and the T75 for the end fight, where I used 4 on Elvis when he ran in, and the last to kill the first wave of gimps.

I knew I had to pump most of the ASG shells into him, so I started off, gave him a good beating with the flyclap. He ran off again, to call for help.
Ah yea, another wave of gimps. Thanks for the stuns. Come here, I will clap you!

After the second wave the king started following me, so I could use the shotgun on his face again.
He died quicker than I thought, after only two waves of gimps, and I think I had 2 or 3 shotgun clips left.

The study of Sulfurology bore fruits today.

After hundreds of attempts on insane, I tried to put it down to 'just hard' today, and see, second time I faced Grandma, I was able to beat her.

Now it will not take long until I beat insane too. Harr...

I did it! Sulfure is down!

Took a while, and hundreds of attempts.
At one point I even made a training map, with just the end fight. Just too frustrating to play the mission dozens of times, to reach the end once, then losing in a couple of seconds...

Also, Faith needed to think up some tricks, like making the gimps stuck somewhere to be able to kill em, or strategies to get through the two hacks without being gnawed at.

Fortunately the map is full of stuff to use. The stunner came in handy several times, and I wouldn't have made the end boss without the pulsegun.
That boss fight was easier than I thought. The hardest part was not getting infested when the queen went stampede, but the architecture helped at that. And the pulzor's pushback. And the stims. And the sentries of course.

    Eat this, grandma!
