It seemed to me like there was an influx for the few weeks before it was announced, I thought maybe it was put on a magazine cover CD or something. But yeah, now there should be even more new players.

The last time I was in a game with Baz and newbies, he put his Gamebody Advance next to the mic and played a Mario game, talked about his love life with Squee, and made dozens of "your mom" jokes.

really? we were playing RO Escape and he ran around the map while we all yelled at him, waiting for him to get his butt into the escape ship

i even chased him down and shot him to get him moveing, lucky for me hes a bad shot with that auto cannon, otherwise crash would of been swiss cheese.

With a bit of luck so many players start playing ye vanilla alienswarm there won't be a need to develop AS:I anymore!

Too bad that the dark side can't be eliminated. I've seen a couple of people really bashing innocent newbs today. Calling them retards etc. It really pisses me off, especially when the moron causes more FF and TKs than the newbs ever did (ok, this guys was special). I also read about some peoples impressions of ASw on other forums, because of the AS:I announcement, and there seems to be a bunch of people put off by the attitude of players. I guess it's the same way everywhere; it just makes you really mad.

I know we've been over it many times before, I just felt like sharing.

Something which could detect when a player has insulted and tked too many others and kick him/her would be more than welcome

I just played a game full of newbies today, I don't even feel like asking "how do I join". It was interesting and I got called a noob. Apparently I didn't *hack* the files for Uplink in Research.
    I'm such a noob.

Yes it is the curse of being called Grunt. I was in the game with fluffy, and just because there was someone called Grunt, another player (someone who was teamkilling and giving friendly fire every game I might add) was calling him a noob, a retard, telling him to go and play CS, all because he hadn't changed his name from the default. For the record, the new player called Grunt didn't do anything wrong, and he asked when he needed help.

Hi All, found out about AS via Steam this morning.

Playing MXO (matrix Online) at the moment but it's not living up to what I was expecting after the close of Beta, gonna give it a couple of months thought to see how the live events go. Their recent change of server direction with regards european servers phef'd me off. From reading AS reviews the multi play sounds execellent fun, something I found that MXO is lacking big time.

Not even a new player yet myself; as soon as I get my copy of UT2004 I'll be checking the faq and reading the boards.

Yeah. I played as Grunt for a week, both out of laziness and curiousity. For the most part things were ok. On the other hand there were a few people who really surprised me with their (mis)behaviour. It was a learning experience, I must say.
It's not my fault everything you like is terrible.

For the last few days there has been close to 60 people browsing the forums, compared to a usual 10-20, and most of them guests. Only now is that figure starting to drop.

Well, I think we should proclaim this week as the "Hug the newb"-week like DQ suggested. I just spent 4 hours playing with new players and instructing them to the ways of the swarm (with assistance from Pestcontrol and Deadpool ). Great fun, things were looking up pretty good at the halfway of Sigma already, quick learners If we nurture each budding player like this, the AS playerbase is secured for generations to come

To all those whom I played with, if you're reading this: You played really well, keep up the good work and don't let go of those good attitudes!
My cats are black! How about yours?
