    giving away my barebones Penrhyn map

    hello peeps,

    i have to admit that i haven't done any work on my map for ages, and the way work is piling on i don't see that changing.

    however, i did a shed-load of work, and it really does only need statics, textures, scenery, and coding. that sounds like a lot missing, but there is a hell of a lot to my map.

    regardless, i don't want to see it wasted, so i will give the map to anybody who wants it, all i ask is that if you do release it then you credit me somewhere.

    any and all welcome.

    i would love to see it in game, the interior is great for roaming and sneaking, it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

    It does indeed look fantastic, I've just been looking over it in-game. I'm going to picking up the work on this one. I'll post some updates in the future, when I have something to show.

    its nice, do u like the textures u have on the outside?

    I changed them, added a fews decorations, working on zoning the map, maybe some better stats on it then

    i shall look forward to see what you lot come up with.

    if i'm honest, i much prefer to do the architechture and leave the rest to someone else.

    my penrhyn map worked much the same way.

    Whew...man you got guts to make a map like this
    last check i was at 5897 brush things to build!!

    Almost finished zoning it, I decided to zone it because i don't think most people want to be rendering over 100k polys,

    Well, mostly just zoned, a few areas textured, working on some lighting stuff, deco, was thinging of having some trees outside (EX: TH-2O ) but once I added the trees and started it up, i knew immediatly i had added too mayn trees, also working on spawn points...
    hopefully if I keep up my spirits in working with your great creation furunculus i hope for it to be done by the end of summer

    *adds to top of list of goals*

    Lets see...what else hav I changed...oh yah added a few steps here and there, thinking of havin maybe a water hole? a trench? something outside

    Hope your glad with the outcome, when its done i'll send to you first (in-case you might want to add some finishing touches )

    P.S.: mayb i should hav pm'ed you this but, you think it should be ok if I made a matinee type thing to it? example: maybe something like Assult trailer or somethin, so you can show off you map

    It too a while but i finally got zoning more than 1/2 the map, i think i'm at 3/4 the map done now, i still have stairs, i changed a few terrain things so people can step up onto the castle without having to jump, added some more door ways where it looked like you were gonna make a doorway, i textured 1 room (wow i see why u gotta have a good computer to edit it)

    I'm at 6k+ brushes, i think i might have to get rid of some of the window things, or just make a static mesh to replace them...

    Yey, finsihed all 3 floors this morning (zoning) starting to texture the towers insides, if i can find a place to put some i'd like to add some stairs so people can reach those great rooms with tower side room, its a great view , maybe a portal?

    i understand totally if you have abandonned it, but it would be cool to know there is still a chance of a night-blade map to result from it.............?

    zomg!
    after reformat of PC (old one, see the Tech forum, i posted something like "Some problems here...")

    I lost my latest version, the fully zoned one, but I still have a version that is 1/3 zoned (on the computer where i started work on it)

    I think i'm going to have to start learning how to use more of the tools UED offers, my pc is nearing the point where i won't be able to keep working on it (21MB is a bit big for a map, lolololol)

    Tried using fog on the ground around the castle but it didn't work out, the fps dropped to around 5-10, depending if you looked at the ground and looking around ^_^, i don't think many people will be playing looking at thr ground though, so hopefully i can fix (read below)

    you know all of your windows with the nice high poly stuff? I think i'm going to try and remake them in some modeling program gmax? something like that, try to cut down on the size (i think it will drop a few megs, if i can i might make those stair railings also)

    (I might not be working on it until April 1st though, April 1st = day of SAT test )

    Thats the update on the map for now and how it is going

    Can't answer if it will be able to be a Night-Blade map from it because of the shrinking information about it (NB), but if I'm still into Night-Blade when it is released I'm sure I'll have it finished zoned and all and will be able to easily make it Night-Blade compatible.

    I was thinking about the forums, why would i want to clutter the forums when there would be a thread 3 lines down about the same thing. Save the trees!

    Not so much as it being hard, just my computer can't handle moving around the map too fast, and theres a lot of windows and rooms to zone out.

    i mean this map is a work of art, when i first saw it i didn't think it would have so many rooms ,when I'm testing it i get lost, but it would make fun for a large Nightblade game, probably not good for a 1v1, unless you decide to make use of the large open areas for some good sword fights gotta have somewhere to throw them long swords

    I cleaned this thread. KAM enough with your rhetoric on old threads, stop it. One more comment about it......

    Threads that are resurrected and a few years old, that's a problem, they are mainly spammed anyway. This thread isn't that old, NB forum, doesn't get THAT much action.

    Spamslayer had some news about this, fine, whatever. If he can make this map work, and make it a go, fine with me, update as needed. Any questions or concerns spamslayer, contact furunculus via PM. You can let us know when it's finished, if you ever get it finished.

    Is it possible to show us another picture of the map in Proper Lighting? Or have you not actually made that yet? Cheers
