    Changing the way difficulties work?

First off I'm new. Got ahold of UT 2004 yesterday solely to test this mod, which was worth it BTW. This isn't just the best mod I've played in a long while, it's the best game.

Anyway, I've just finished the second level on easy and have a question:
Is there an easy way to change the way the difficulty settings work?
Personally I don't really like that aliens get tougher if you play on harder difficulties. I'd rather keep them as weak creatures as on easy but I want them to swarm, I'm talking maybe 4x or 5x spawn on insane.
    Is this possible to do?

Spawn rate and initial alien placements are decided by the mapper. Try out the custom map, Bugcity. There's more swarm you can count.

The main problem with just an increased spawn rate is that it doesn't make anything necessarily more difficult. The flamer, for example, has an area of effect goes through aliens, so even a short spray of fire can light dozens of bugs up.

An option open to you is to complete a single mission on Insane, which will unlock Carnage Mode for that mission - it occasionally spawns two weak aliens at points there'd normally be one normal one. If you want to try carnage, but insane is beyond your means to complete, you can use god mode to run through, or use the elusive "complete mission" command that I've witnessed, but don't know the syntax for.

But beware, this map is a hell of a lag for at least an "average" computer, so pack some stims with you

Nah, stims are for people who don't have reflexes.

Thanks for the tip though, it was a fun map.

As Salsa said, Carnage doubles the number of aliens spawned, but halves their health. With a single spawn, it's easy, but when there's a large amount of spawns all together, it gets scary.

I noticed a HUGE improvement going from 512MB to 1GB on that map.
