theres also another project going on that gameplay is identical and graphics are also same style as in cave story

I payed through the preview version and it was fun, even tho its quite short.

Another nice indie game of a similar vein is La Mulana. Although it is more of a platform puzzle game. And more evil.

It's a fun little game. The only thing that annoys me about it is all the boss battles with no save until after it, so you have to do the whole level from the start again, sometimes including watching a cut scene.

Another very nice game along a similar vein is Iji. It's a 2D platformer, but with a mix of RPG elements (leveling up various skills, combining weapons with hacking). Also, you can play the game through aiming to get as few kills as possible (I've heard you can get away with only two kills, both bosses) and the story will react to this.

    Iji is pretty cool.

The only thing I wish is you could shoot in mid-air, like jump and shoot. I get in situations where an enemy is right on the edge of a ledge and won't move, and I can't shoot him unless I can get on his ledge, which means getting hurt by him.

Didn't really cause me much trouble, but then a didn't really use any guns - I finished the game with only 3 kills.
