    Progress?

    How's this mod coming along?

I know alot of people have been anticipating this mod for a while now and I was curious on how's it going? Do you guys think you'll release it this year?

Also on steam it gave a Sept 3 release date, is there a reason for those dates?

I use the term "mod" loosely.

So any info on how far this game is coming along?

Half Life 2 is a mod of Microsoft Windows, right?

Black Cat Games has historically been secretive about progress (aside from the occasional model, screenshot, or promotional video), but we'll all be informed a week or two before release date. It's better that way.

I may know nothing about how far the game is coming along, since i didn't read Cythes post in its entirety, but I can safely say, from contacts I have, close to a source, comma, that the game is in fact, coming along Swimmingly,
    ..it's safer here.

It doesnt help that it has a big "Half-Life 2 Mod" icon on the steam page.

Well, fairness is needed where fairness is due. It says clearly there in the FAQ that there's going to be a free-but-content-limited mod version, and then there's a full standalone game version.

We don't mean to be secretive, it's just really hard to give release dates, or even a meaningful % of progress. We have people working from all over the world, most of them in their spare time as they work their day jobs too. The IAF Intelligence section is meant as a way to update you on our progress and we're aiming to post something new in there at least once a week from now on.

We're luckily free of a publisher set release date and our games end up all the better for it!

Yeah, I know! We're going to remove that.

Too many games are destroyed by a time frame. I'm excited for this game as I love the original Alien Swarm. Please, take your time and make sure it's a winner and I guarantee you'll have my money.

Right after Duke Forever. GameRankings lists that as January 1st, 2007, and if you believe that, I have a slightly used sentry gun to sell you.

Well based on the screenshots and the experience from Swarm AS:I will be great. So it's best to take their time.

    Umm, how old are you?

It will come out, just solve this puzzle, your sitting on a chair, and theres a door at the end of the room, you walk half way there, then you walk half of that, and then half of that, etc etc, will you ever make it to the door?

Put this theory to the test. A package game inside an unmarked DVD-case of AS:I will be just outside your room.
You will of course, have to pay for the game, VAT, interest, and post and package.

Maybe it would help us understand how it's coming along if they updated the main page every once in a while...

Maybe they have better things to do, like work on the actual game?

A balance is nice. Keeping the community alive and fuzzy. If they don't do any updates but keep working on it...yes it will go faster, but people will just lose interest.

Whereas, you update too regulary...and then...it will go too slow...And EVERYONE will know EVERYTHING about it

I think they have a pretty good balance.

It's currently the Moddb's 2k6 mod of the year awards... Presenting new material at this time is a massive boost to hype and fanbase.

Hahaha. I dont mind waiting, I just wish more people played ASW. For some reason, I cant shake the feeling that this is going to go the path of The SHip, which was a HL mod and was recently released has a Stand alone game built from the source engine. I played that game during the freekend(steam free weekend), and it was great. Unfortunatly, it looks like its going to die:
    http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?game=ship2

Has good unique and innovative it is, I dont think its going to be enough.

For some reason I seem to think that AS:I is going to follow that path.

One factor I'd say is that to my knowledge, good Ship games require more players than just 4. I think that was one reason mods like Air Buccaneers got in trouble, it just wasn't fun if there weren't tens of players. Now, Swarm just shines with 4 people. Easier to catch a full team online.
My cats are black! How about yours?
