    Jump/Crouch Manoeuvres

Will AS:I have halflife 2 jump/crouch manoeuvres or unreal style or even something new?

Ask yourself, why would a badass marine be jumping and crouching?

i played an old isometric shooter in gaming saloon lately called Shock Troopers, what i noticed cool about the gameplay there were dodges, if you taped a button fast the marine dashed kuickly in one direction.

the game was isometric but i think it would be a nice thing to use in AS:I, i also think about adding stamina barr to the game that would show you how many dashes you can do before youre exhaused. There could be added sprint button, it would also use up your stamina tant owuld slowly regenerate. just like in bf2 but in a top-down game.

it owuld be a nice new thing and also allow experienced players to develope theyre moovement a bit more.

Does that mean that airpower will rest at the apex of the triad of victory?
“That’s not what justice is,” the colonel jeered, and began pounding the table again with his big fat hand. “That’s what Karl Marx is. I’ll let you know what justice is. Justice is a knee in the gut from the floor.

Those airstrikes and missile launches do tend to hurt a little if you get caught in the blast.

But remember that aircraft cannot capture bases .

    (Rant warning)

This jump/crouch question reminds me of something that's bugged me for a while now. Why do games, mostly FPS, still use this archaic jump+crouch method of "climbing"? Does it really seem realistic? If you walked up to a box that was about waist or chest high would you try jump and crouch to get on or over it? I don't think I would. I understand that past game mechanics and hardware limitations made it necessary to create these simplified movements, and I also understand that realism doesn't necessarily equal fun. But we've been stuck with the old "jump+crouch" system of climbing since Half-Life 1 (at least). Can't new technology come up with at least one better system? Like game mechanics and animation that actually simulate climbing? How many times have you played a game where an item or door is placed in plain view, but there is this short wall which just happens to be a virtual inch higher than you are allowed to jump over? You know you've been frustrated by that at least once. Why not let you CLIMB over the moderately high obstruction like any normal person would do?

    *End Rant*

In Hitman: Blood Money, Agent 47 loves to climb onto boxes whenever he gets the chance (mostly because he can't jump)!

There will be jumping in Infested, we're still tweaking the numbers, tho.
Not sure about crouching... It's not really something that we consider to be a fun gameplay element. And with the given camera angle it's no too clear to see what the player's doing.

I'd like to see the marines move generally slower but have a sprint ability, would be nice for those hasty retreats.

Yes, in Company of Heroes, retreat mode allows units to run faster than a six-wheeler APC.

Was pretty fun. Dawn of War was prettier and funnier, though. CoH suffers from the WWII brown-n'-grey palatte. :/
