Has it really been five years?

In a recent game, someone asked me how long I have been playing Thievery. It has been so long that I couldn't say exactly. If memory serves, right after I started playing Thievery, I registered on the TTLG forums (where the old Thievery forum was hosted). I just checked and determined that I registered on TTLG five years ago today! So, I believe I am celebrating my fifth anniversary (more or less) as a Thievery player. Maybe someone can tell me what version was current back then (1.1?).

As well as having contributed to my life in its own right, Thievery also is indirectly responsible for my discovery of Thief fan missions. For some reason, I took no notice of them until I registered on TTLG and saw that there was a forum devoted to them.

I was going to say more, but I am getting all misty-eyed. Thanks for everything, Thievery and your developers, mappers, and players.

It's around five years, yes, but for some reason I want to think the initial release was in June.
It's not my fault everything you like is terrible.

A quick archives search suggests that Thievery was released on the 28th of June, 2002, as version 1.0.

It was then patched on the 6th of July to 1.1.

Hmm, the old memory must be playing tricks on me. I guess I found out about the mod elsewhere and registered on TTLG to keep tabs on it. So it's only the fifth anniversary of my anticipating Thievery? Not as exciting as I thought. I will have to plan a celebration at the end of June. Thanks for the kind wishes anyway, Daniel.

That can't be right, immortius... I'm about positive I was playing TUT before I graduated from high school, and I graduated in May 2002... Or perhaps I've completely lost it. :/

I find the latter a more likely explanation

I agree with curunir - I was playing 1.2 in 2002 and had already been playing for a couple of years - so that can't be it.

    1.2 was released on September 25th, 2002.

Evidence for the initial release can be found in this thread. You'll notice it started on the 12th of July 2002 and it is clear from the content that Thievery had not been released at that time. A post on the 27th of July confirms a download of the mod.

Evidence for the release of 1.1 can be found here.

I started playing Thievery in December 2002. I haven't played recently though.
