It's worth the money, if it gets multiplayer...

Unfortunately it's only got hotseast and I have no clue if they intend to add LAN support.

If it had LAN support it would be amazing.

Decent game for a quick laugh every now and then, and they are adding things every few months.
I picked it up a while back through the support developers package.

They don't intend to add LAN. It'd probably be a mess with all the framedrop and whatever. Game's even more worth it when you mod it, so do consider.

Since our Stalker threads and discussions are all over the place: Fo-hook, Stalker Call of Pripyat arrived on Steam and if you own either of the previous games there it's discounted - 20 eurobucks for it over here. Joy!

Folks, you know the SOP for STALKER games. You wait some months for it to be patched first, then you play it a bit, see what you hate, and get some mods for that.

Steam one does support mods, doesn't it?

Clear Sky and this new one at least work with mods on Steam, SoC too as far as I know. I already tried and clunked something oblivionlosty/amky on top of CoP and it works, although the mod is still alpha quality. Also this.

CoP seems to run better than Clear Sky on my rig, although it won't let me use the maximum texture quality since I'm on a 32bit XP so maybe that explains the smooth going. For the same reason I've no idea if the DX11 features are anything to get excited about.

The game's apparently not that dreadfully in need of patching (gasp!). Already after playing for half an hour it was more enjoyable than all of my Clear Sky playing so far (which was 4 hours or so).

Sounds tempting. How are the ballistics? Stock CS, for instance, was toygunny. Let me know if you find any other good mods and I may pick it up.

Not sure if it fits in here, or if people have heard of it before but...
    www.minecraft.net

To put it very bluntly, it's aiming to be 3D dwarf fortress. It's more focused on actual digging and building though.

Single player version is very limited. It's also still in Alpha, but the dev has gotten over... 6k worth of pre-orders?(Don't quote me on that, I'm not sure of the actual amount).

He's quit his job and will start working on it full time as of 1 of March. Basically, if you pre-order it, you get the indev version, which is given frequent updates. The indev version at the moment features crafting, fighting, health system, among many other things. Talk of multiplayer survival, infinite worlds, seasons, giant monsters, rares, enchanting and some more has also been mentioned by the dev.

For 10$, if this delivers, it may be a real gem. The free version is also great (especially survival), it's not something everyone will enjoy though, but I personally love the concept and how they are carrying it out.

Yeah, actually the figure in my post was way off apparently. A lot of people are starting to pirate it though, so the figure is probably a bit lower (>40k I'd say)

Still, he himself said he has already made way more money than he'd expect, and the game still alpha... If he plays his cards right, he could make a fortune. Moreover, he's working completely alone, so all the money goes to him (except the paypal and country share, etc). Good for him, I say.

    Hmm....

    Importing a level:

At first, this will just be for loading saves from old versions of the game, but it might be expanded to support saves from other games, mostly because I love pointless features like that. I already have mostly working DOOM level importer written, and it’d be really interesting to be able to load Dwarf Fortress levels, if Toady One would be OK with that.
    Minecraft just became liquid WIN.

Interesting game. If they add more "crafting" capability the game can be awesome.

Went "mining" and found some gold deposits... started to build my tower of gold

*checked out his blog and apparently he is adding crafting functionality... awesome!

I like how it goes on past the time when you think it's going to stop.

I built a nice tower in Minecraft only to realise that monsters spawn in dark squares so it filled up with monsters which was rather annoying. The load/save functionality has also been removed from the free version which has caused me to lose all interest. I'm actually considering forking out the cash for it though, the crafting and other additions sound sweet as.

Golden Eye was better, if that came out I'd even consider buying an Xbox specifically to play it deathmatch.
