Hi. I'd like to start making maps for AS:I after I read early mapping info on the web, but I was wondering about textures, which to use? From HL2? Is there a textures pack for AS:I to download?
Thanks.
Hi SobeR
We didn't release any content from the game, such as models and materials, yet. And I don't think we will, as far as I know.
My suggestion would be: Either make those infamous orange maps Valve uses to do. Can be boring for a level designer, but once you try it out you immediately notice the advantages of that working method.
Or you could use textures from hl2 that fit into the sci-fi setting we use and replace them afterwards. (There are quite a few floor and wall textures that Valve used to make HL2 that you can use for making an Infested level) Replacing textures with hammer is very easy. (Select surface - Do: Replace selected texture with texture XY)
you might be able to take some from hl2 (although that might be stealing )and include them with your map so people without hl2 can still see the textures? or you could you just use custom ones and include them.
"Your going DOWN clOWN" why did someone have to say this. WHY

hl2 is a fps and a.s. is a 3rd person game.
