But they *are* unbalanced. Have you tried them? Either they start throwing every alien class at you in one single horde - including cut aliens - or they turn the weapons into overpowered WMDs (e.g. near-infinite Hornet). Plus they usually have the server locked on the highest difficulty and FF settings.

In any case, the devs have made the SDK tools available for the community right from day one. How's that for options? Now, if there are not many mods around, it surely ain't Valve's fault.

calling it "unbalanced" is missing the point.
More so in a co-op game.

I'm glad someone understood.

I still enjoy the original, even if it is more for the chat, its a shame that community content isnt more easily accessed ingame. BUT, when you see friends in custom content maps, it does show where you can download it.

I uninstalled the game.
There is simply no point anymore if you can't ever find a single server to play custom campaigns(even them being of much lower quality than the official one).

Such a shame, I will remember this game fondly.

Incredible, considering how often I managed to gather friends or get invited for a custom campaign.

Maybe the game isn't to blame in your case after all.

I don't know why are you continually being so dishonest, it's really annoying, you click on the browser option in the main menu, you view servers and arrange the list by filter or order it by category, every day for months there has never been a map that is not an official one.

And even if the server has the custom campaigns, which you always discover by accident if you click F8 to change the mission, there are no people interested in playing it because nobody has THE SLIGHTEST CLUE about the existence of anything other than the official campaign.

I indeed changed the mission once to such campaign when I discovered it on the server, always by accident, and existing people drop out and nobody ever joins.

Also, about 15 people friended me due the course of playing AW, none of them have a clue about other campaigns, and most of them stopped playing anyway.

Stop fucking around already with your transparent bullshit lies.
What fucking friends do you gather, what fucking campaigns!!!??

The whole concept is fundamentally broken. Even if you are not bullshitting, your marginal exceptional exclusionary experience is completely irrelevant.

You could perhaps try people on this forum? Maybe some IRL friends? If they don't know about custom campaigns, and you haven't told them, whose fault could it be?
Hint: not mine.

Of course I'm being dishonest, I'm a Valve shill.

Press account and sexy time with Gabe.

Valve's of course, the concept of scavenging for content on your own outside of the game is a bafflingly silly idea doomed to a predictable failure.

I already tried inviting him to a game, which is something he apparently never considered before, but it didn't work anyway because the guy doesn't own any other Steam game. Hence the reason why he resumed whining and being a jackass. Not very resourceful, if you ask me!

If you want to play a custom campaign, just notice people (e.g. on this forum) that you'll be hosting one soon and that you need teammates. Yes, it's that simple.

This may come as a surprise to you, but it's worked since Doom.

If only we could allow players to download new content straight from the game servers they join!

Who am I kidding? It'll never catch on.

I heard it works like that in Quake, but it might just be a myth.

I'm just trolling trying to spice up the conversation, in case you can't tell.

Let's all go back to playing Quake.

Or maybe we can arrange for a Swarm meeting this week.

This way, Tape will be able to join us.

I think the main problem is that you could download the maps from the server back in UT2004. In Alienswarm you have to search for them on the internet. Why isn't it possible to download maps/mods though it is possible in other games that use the hl2 engine.

Did they fix the difficulty etc? Last time I played was during release and it was pretty meh. Otherwise I wouldn't be asking but a guy said to me that there's lots of challenge in the game so I'm wondering.
