I don't see how it was; perhaps we can get some developer commentary on this point?
I was being polite. The rage burns deep within my frame.

Some developer commentary would be interesting.

PS: DeepQantas is a goon. I was not aware of this.

In any case, I hope the original cast returns with some new voice-overs!

It's an undercover mission.

Didn't notice at first but apparently there's a gameplay video out, too:

Gratz to all involved. I'm sure that THN will have a server up before too long, assuming this thing still needs servers?

("Where we're going, we don't need servers!" </Doc Brown> ...?)

They get steady paychecks from Valve now. Valve gets a playable to demo to show off what Steamworks can do, which should pay off for Valve in the long run.
So Valve bought Blackcat? or Alienswarm its self??? Some clarity here would be great.

"Two years ago Valve hired the talented team behind the popular top down co-op mod Alien Swarm (read: Dalai, Cythe and solaris). Since then they have been busy working on the Left 4 Dead Series, and now Portal 2. However, we never forgot about Alien Swarm and the team has spent a lot of time bringing the game to Source in between their contributions to the other Valve projects."

So the new game has only up to 4 players? I guess that makes it easier to balance.

I loved the video esp the gameplay one and the way that the door collapsed and killed the marine

Some of us will be over at the Steam forums too, but these ones will keep running. Actually there's a sticky at the top of the Steam AS forum directing people here

Wow -- I figured you guys were at Valve, but I was suspecting Alien Swarm had fallen by the wayside.

Glad to see it didn't, and congrats on getting it finished. Can't wait to play; the original Alien Swarm beta test is still one of the best co-op game experiences I've had.

I went to edit the "when it's done" release date in that FAQ I posted like five years back, but it was already unstickied. XD

Another achievement icon has a Heavy with a parasite on his head - the name? Hat Trick. Something tells me it's more of an... anti-achievement.

I've also noticed this version has potentially the worst/most humiliating acronym of all Source games, if one just tacks "Source" on the end since the UT2k4 version was the original. Alien Swarm: Source.

I think I'll be calling it AS2010.
