ToD VI Teams Posted

The captain's picks have been locked in and put through the Immortinator (TM). Here is the final breakdown of the teams:

Team Bandit
Archer
Bandit
_OskaR
Przemek557
Urukus

Team Biohazard
Biohazard
beast
LoUie
Shug
SpamSlayer

Team FixXxer
Antero
FixXxeR
John dillinger
PettyThief/Appollonius
Trapmaster

Team industrialism
industrialism
Jarvis
Magic
monolith
OoZe

Team Rodent
Convict
Grimmy/Vigilant
okih-imus
Rodent
sky-fiwa-

This year the captain's received the following picks:

Bandit: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th
Biohazard: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 11th
FixXxeR: 1st, 2nd, 9th, 14th
industrialism: 2nd, 4th, 6th, 10th
Rodent: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 8th

The order the captain's chose in was randomly drawn from a hat: Rodent, Biohazard, industrialism, Bandit, then Fixxxer. Because there are 5 teams and FixXxeR received last pick, his team will received a first round bye. I will be putting up a full tournament schedule soon, but I'm just going in reverse order of the selection process for the bracket. This means the first round will see Rodent vs Biohazard and industrialism vs Bandit.

Good luck to all the teams! Captains, if you want your team to have a name send it to me and I will update the roster/bracket. Let the betting begin!

While I don't doubt the Immortinator (TM) is an astounding piece of programming (I saw listed amongst its other functions the ability to decipher modernist literature & generate speeches in the fashion favoured by Nuremberg ralliers), I must wonder at the team generated for FixXxer.
Frankly, if it wasn't for the disarming good looks, chivalrous charm and yet seething inner determination of Appollonius and Trapmaster I imagine he'd have been in no small amount of bother (I assume they were the 9th & 14th picks).

The emphasis of the team picker is to get all teams as many people near the tops of their lists as possible. With straight round-robin picking you can have teams miss their top choices completely. Like how last time everyone got their first picks, and then everyone got 2nd or 3rd picks except one team that went straight down to 9th pick.

Given that the teams were 4 people plus captain, the 1st through 4th choices should have been exactly who each captain wanted on their team. Every captain got at least 2 of these top choices, and the majority got 3. That's great! Including the captains, over half of each team should be a solid group of people.

Of course, this all ignores player skill and teamwork synergies - if the captains don't select good players then they won't get good teams.

Going by priorities Industrialism got a worst team than FixXxer.

Teams look good - although I really can't make the 1st and 2nd! I'm moving house, so even the 9th is touch and go at this point. Should be ok for the 14th though.

I'll post up as soon as I know more.

no offence to anyone, but yea it seems that team fixxxer and team indus are the two weakest teams. im not to sure about fixxxers teammates but the heavy main player in fixxxers team is fixxxer himself, while team indus has two, indus and ooze, they are the ones that'll do most for the team. hopefully they will contact eachother somehow and go through some tactics, could be needed there. so if fixxxer hasnt a heavy player himself it feels like "2vs1" in a way so id put my money on indus team. and again, i hope its more balanced than i expect.

btw, two questions. its ToD single or double elemination?

more players/teams cant sign up???

I actually got 3 of the players I requested. If you think the teams are weak your underestimating.

I think teams are balanced. Oddly the guys I know less (or nothing at all) are all in my team.

Well.. I guess it's time to put on some TuT team practising.

Interesting teams, Unfortunate I was/am unable to make one.
Depending on the day I can probably sub.
If it gets suspended even longer.... (heh) I can probably whip a team together.

MageofFolenn (AKA Magic) has dropped out of the tournament, I am now left with four players, I'd strongly suggest dividing them to the other teams based on time zone majority, this feels more supportive of the tournament taking place, and players being able to cover for that one player that couldn't make it.

Team Bandit
Archer
Bandit
_OskaR industrialism or OoZe
Przemek557
Urukus

Team Biohazard
Biohazard
beast
LoUie OoZe or monolith
Shug
SpamSlayer

TeamFixXxer
Antero
FixXxeR
John dillinger Jarvis or industrialism
PettyThief/Appollonius
Trapmaster

Team Rodent
Convict
Grimmy/Vigilant
okih-imus monolith or Jarvis
Rodent
sky-fiwa-

Biohazard, all yours lol. redraft?

Nah, no need to redraw the teams. It's perfectly within the rules to have a team with one player short. It just means when your team has matches, you'll be playing 4v4s.

Why would you drop a whole team just for losing one guy?

If I'm available at the right time put me on the list.
I work every Friday and Saturday Night. I get home between 2:00am and 4:30am GMT on those nights so pretty good for USA time. Sundays are free from 5:00am in the morning.

Well, unfortunately I wont be able to make the tournament anyway. I've moved house this weekend and was assured I would have a connection by the 8th - but I severely doubt it. Also Appollonius has had some real life commitment come up and wont be able to make the Tourney either.

So Team FixxxeR currently stands as;

<team leader space>
Antero
John dillinger
Trapmaster
<space>

So anyone who CAN sub, please do :d

If you need to find a substitute, that is fine with me. But don't worry about playing a man down in the tournament, if you can only field 3 people that has never been a problem in the past. I may have to rewrite a section of the rules, but in the past I've only required 3 members of a team be present for the match to take place.
