Thumbs up Please Bring Me Up To Speed With NB.

Hey all,

I have just been playing around with the latest Alpha and I really like what I see in terms of gameplay ideas, however why is it that it seems almost every object model is from Thief 2 or Thievery UT? Is it because there simply isnt enough modelers workin on it or some other reason? Also how come there is only one map availible, same reasons as above? Also same questions for older looking Textures in game.

Please anyone with a few moments of their time just bring me up with all I need to know on the developement and planned future of this awesome mod!

Thanks alot!
-Ben

It basically comes down to limited resources. We wanted to get a gameplay prototype up, but didn't have the art resources to put in the alpha release. The final release will have new models, textures, and maps.

I see, so at the moment are all the basic models, character models, textures, maps and other assets being pooled together ready for future releases?

To an extent yes. We are really focusing on recruiting new team members right now because so many of ours were taken over by real life.

Basically, when we started I converted a map from Thievery to UT3, including all the assets, and then used that to develop the code around. Some of the textures and models have been updated, but many Thievery ones remain.

There shouldn't be anything in there from Thief 2 though - unless there are Thief 2 models in Thievery.

At the end of last year there was only three people at max still contributing to the project, hence the recruitment push happening now.

I'm sure I'll be testing and design heckling ...erm...critiquing again when there's something to test.

If you can handle it, Benvox, you can join me on the asset modelling.

You must bare with us, CoD. The team is getting a massive overhaul and things are getting back on track now. The team isn't absolutely complete. We could still do with a new coder and a new artist but for the moment we're continuing as it is. Biohazard is doing his best to bring in new guys to contribute.

No, but we will be keeping everyone up to date as to where we are. Expect me to post an update as soon as I get through my next exam.

Well actually I could help out too with coding. I just don't know if I should apply because I'm busy with other stuff aswell. Also I spend some time as a hobby projet on improving TUT.

That's what we're doing, except on the Unreal 3 engine.
