  • Campaign KIA idea

    After playing this mod (amazing job by the way! thumbs up from me! for sevral hours last night, with 7 friends with Teamspeak running so we could all talk as we played, we learnt alot about how to play the game.

    The difficulty setting seems spot on, but as we could never seem to finish the Salvage mission without casualties, it would be a very cool idea to have a less-harsh penalty for dieing, instead of one player having to stop playing (which isnt fun lets be honest).

    My idea is to have a player that dies gets a new marine with 1 skill point for each skill for the next mission (ala Desert Storm 1) and gets the chance to build up that character instead. This would mean people could continue to play and not have to sit out or leave.

    Great game otherwise, not too many bugs made it though im sure it will keep me playing a long time yet.

    Why not just play single mission? Problem solved.

      Because we want to keep our characters (the ones that survive) and develop them.

      Just to make it an option for the server would be v handy, as we run a private server and would use it when we play.

          There'll be an option to revive dead marines in the first patch (though they will have lost any skills or medals gained).

              Revive and re-do the same mission or revive and start at the next one? If it's starting at the next mission what's the point if they don't keep the skills gained? The whole problem right now is that you lose marines and most importantly their skill upgrades so when there's a higher level tech hack required NO ONE CAN HACK IT.

                  Higher level tech hacks are never required, they're always optional bonuses.

                      Like I said, don't make em KIA, just...Injured. On the debriefing, when it's going through the people, their kills, and medals, a blue tint and "Downed" would be just fine, with the option on.

                      Otherwise, KIA, because Faith wasn't doing her job

                        Does this mean that they'll have lost any skills or medals they gained for that mission before they died? Or for the whole campaign?

                          The whole campaign. The idea is to stop people being forced off the server just because someone else foolishly lost a marine and didn't retry the mission. It isn't to provide a quick cheat through the game.

                            How about after x deaths(configurable), 1 skill random skill point is lost. That way you can die a couple times but then survive and do good on a mission and still come out ahead.

                              Just one point is lost after x deaths? There's only 7 missions thus far!

                              Losing skill would make things more difficult in a campaign, but I think we can all bear with it if it means Faith and Bastille stick around, for what level 1 healing they can give, because without it... x_x
