    Quick: Awesome game, great job guys!

    Ok so the other day I saw someone ask about forming an AS clan, but there really isn't much of a game mode to make clan wars fun. Here's my idea:


    Team SOS - Marines trapped in space!

    Description: Two teams of 12 marines each attempt to survive the longest in their respective bases with a no-man's land filled with aliens in between them.

    How it works: This gametype is defined by some simple rules.

    1. Every 2 minutes a wave of monsters will swarm into the map down the center and at each team's base. Teams are then given a 20 second breather before the next wave, which increases in difficulty.

    2. A team is defeated the moment all members die, whether by aliens or by enemy marines.

    3. At the start of every third wave, Federation dropships will resupply each team according to how well they perform (monster's killed, people left). Killing enemy marines is "officially" looked down upon, and the killer will not be resupplied ever again. The exception is if the kill was by mines, sentry guns, or Phermone Grenades.

    4. In each base is a radio transponder with which the team call for resupplies. If this is stolen to the enemy base, the team will not recieve a resupply.

    5. One extra addition to AS that doesn't already exist is the Phermone Grenade. The medics on each team will get one Pheromone Grenade per resupply. When thrown, the grenade releases a cloud of chemicals that will attract a large radius of aliens for 30 seconds.

    NEW RULE
    6. Marines KIA will respawn as aliens that can attack the other team, giving their teammates a slight compensation in offense.

    So the gameplay is essentially a combination of sabotage and survival. Several tactics come to mind:
    -Wounding but not killing enemy marines to avoid penalty
    -Designating one teammate as a killer (avoid further penalty)
    -Dropping a PG (Phermone Grenade) deep in the enemy base
    -Stealing transponders and sealing rooms to slow enemy marines down
    -Just plain going nuts and killing the most aliens in the middle of the no-man's land cuz you're berzerk and want all the goodies when they drop =)

    One last note, I would vote that marines cannot gain experience, but that they all start with primary stats +1.

      Oh comoon, we need atleast DM and TDM, and CTF, and LMS!

      DM:One marine VS endless horde of aliens (frags)

      TDM: 4-8 marines vs endless horde of aliens (frags)

      CTF: Capture The FAQ(JediKnight Style), 4-8 marines timerush on maps.

      LMS: All players start in AO-meat alone, then you go for time, not kills

      TLMS: 4-8 ppl team start in AO-meat togeather and try to survive as long as possible.

        Well, those gametypes don't work very well without respawn, but they definitely have elements to borrow from.

        The transponder idea is straight from CTF/DOM, just with the benefit of giving you more ammo and stuff. But you alert me to something I didn't think of... how boring would SOS be if you died early and had to watch the whole time?

        So here's the idea I'd add to the above:

        When you die, you actually become infested and turn into an alien. From then on, you constantly respawn and can then attack the enemy marines. You are put in the body of the more powerful aliens like the bosses and behemoths, and can resist the Pheromone Grenade.

                how about a TDM marines vs marines where 2 teams of 4 can go up against each other
                every team would get access to 1 medic, 1 technical, 1 special weapons specialist and 1 explosives guy
                but then all with equal skills
                like all 1 star or all 2,3,4 ... stars customizable in server settings

                  It needs sthn like Smash TV where ur playin against the AI still but as 2 separate teams:

                  So you'd have 2 teams of 4 so that each class is covered and u play a mission to kill as many bugs as poss. You cant kill the other team only the bugs. Itd need a gametype mut to change the objective orientated maps or a whole set of new maps. But I think thats the way to go if u want the mod to be competative!

                    well if the devs would implement 4v4 TDM marine vs marine than ppl can start making new maps where the 2 teams are physially seperated so they can never kill each other but then with unending hordes of aliens on each side
                    the team to die the first looses.
                    and then you can do 'CS-with-a-top-down-view' 4v4 TDM and mappers have the perfect option to make a smash tv map by using the trick i just explained.

                    maybe a pretty important point: no sentrys in marine vs marine since that would just be lame.
                    so even in a smash tv like match based on the TDM style both teams cant use sentrys and its all up to skill and teamwork

                      I think the survival mode gameplay works better with only one team. It can still be made competitive. The original AvP did this very well and it was extremely fun. Additionally they say this game is susposed to be about last stands and impossible odds so a survival mode would fit it perfectly.

                      -Only 1 team with the objective of surviving as long as possible.
                      -Instead of pauses between the waves the get periods of calm, where alien spawn rate is reduced, but aliens still appear.
                      -The level can involve either moving through a level during periods of calm (like progressing down a series of hallways) or making a stand cornered.
                      -The game would keep track of how long you survive
                      -The server would keep a list of record survival times (for All time, month, week, day) for each level and the names of the players who pulled them off (and which marines they played as.) This would give players a way to indirectly compete. Who can survive the longest?
                      -Things get progressively more difficult as time goes on.

                          good game type would be:

                          -marines vs sawrm (of corse)
                          - if u (marine) die would would become a sawrm (with your ai friends)
                          - last marine alive, is the winner

                          (almost lms & just like that mode in avp2)

                          other one, its just some guys already mensioned 2 teams of marines against each other and kill all swarms.

                            I don't like a DIRECT marine vs. marine because it's simply not exciting. The battles are over so fast, the damage rate so high, and accuracy is not mitigated by your movement, It almost become an instagib Counterstrike. I find it much more interesting and tactical if marines could lure aliens into each other while trying to survive themselves.

                            It's important to identify what is the skill in AS. We all know that a fast trigger finger is NOT the main skill in AS, it is

                            -the teamwork
                            -the positioning
                            -the ammo conservation against hordes of baddies
                            -use of all skills

                            TDM already would lack ammo conservation and skills like hacking or welding, and I'd argue it wouldn't be too high on the others as well unless damage is halved. Otherwise, You'd just stimpack up and let the autogun ride.

                              and you ll need buttloads of ammo too. most ppl will die not from being bad but from running out of ammo. this would stop ppl from getting pretty long survival times due to the lack of ammo to go on.
                              and then the use of all skills ... well ... 8 marines together trying to survive the longest wont use teamwork like i mentioned above. so henceforth you dont have a combination of all skills anymore. but its every man for himself.

                              and then i havent even started about the teamkilling that will happen just to win ...
                              because then mapmakers will be forced again to split up every marine in a seperate section of the level. then i think 2 teams of 4 trying to survive would be more interesting since a good team can still combine all the skills before they all run out of ammo again :p

                              or we can resort to lame things like the option to turn off friendly fire but then even single mission and campaign servers will use that and that just kills the game. unless its coded that FF cant be turned on of off but that its off in survival mode.

                              even 4 kinds of survival mode are possible to give everyone an equal chance:
                              - E survival
                              - W survival
                              - M survival
                              - T survival
                              in which everyone gets a marine with the same avatar and with the nickname of the player who controls him. and depending on the type of survival (E, W, M or T) those marines will be of the explosive type, weapons specialist type, medic type or tech type.

                              those were some of my remarks and new ideas
                              hope there s something good between them
