Custom Campaign(s) Mutator!

Butters and I have created a mutator that lets you play custom campaigns with any maps in Alienswarm. You can either select the predefined campaign (Upsilon , using only custom maps) or create one yourself ingame!

It's awesome work, easy to use and a lot of fun. Praise the hax!
Hopefully this will encourage any leet mappers out there to consider (mini) campaign projects.

As DQ/Bruce would say: "Very fancy". Smatt has done an excellent job skillfully hacking some complex classes.

Just a note: The predefined "Upsilon Campaign" map list is as follows:

1) Ao-WeaponFacility
2) Ao-BiolabFacility
3) Ao-Cleanup2
4) Ao-Aspirant
5) Ao-Paracelsus
6) Ao-LostContact

Make sure you have all these maps in your Maps/ folder if you want to launch the campaign (All the custom maps in this list are available from forcegamers or maps4mods). All of them are in the MPUK servers too, so you might have them in your Cache directory if you downloaded from the server first.

Aye, how about you make the server create the actual file on your computer, or send a codex what files it has and checks them (if they are they wont be dloaded, if they arent they get dloaded)?

The maps will get sent from the server if the client doesn't have them and the server does (just like a normal map). The warning is mainly for peeps that run the mutator on their pcs or set up their own server, and want to use the predefined campaign.

Only one thing... is there a campaign difficulty adjustment for the maps?

ie. Ao-ReactorCore in Sigma has an adjustment of -2 and Ao-Rescue has adjustment of -1 which makes them easier in campaign than in Single Mission.

Likewise, the later missions have a positive adjustment making them harder in campaign.

This is of course so that you'll actually need the skills you gain later on.

For the predefined campaign, yes, there is difficulty adjustments. But for the custom one created ingame there isn't. Could probably set some defaults for it or something.

Someone really should email this to the people at the servers, and make it so the Leader of the game can edit the campaign inside the game.

We've sent it to MPUK, so you might be able to play it on their servers soon .

Apart from the predefined Upsilon campaign and the possibility of editing a campaign in game, remember you can edit the ini file and add a campaign of your own (up to 5 new campaigns can be added atm), with more control over difficulty and other settings of the maps in the campaign.
