You upload them to your own webhost. Then you enter the link in the avatar windows.

It's a lot easier to just use someone elses picture.
If you go to google,
do an image search,
go to advanced options,
search for an icon sized image,
click on "image only" or "show image alone" or whatver it says,
copy the contents of the toolbar,
paste it into the image bit of your thievery board profile,
and voila!

Make sure it's not too large as well (64 x 64 should work), if you still like the picture, you can allways resize it.
