  • Attention 56kers!

If I were to host a large file on my site, what would be the best size for each chunk? (Excluding the use of download managers).

Look, a poll and I didn't put a stupid final answer...

Some people might consider 20 MB to be a stupid answer....

When i was on 56k i used to DL huge files all the time... >30mB.

Now I have ADSL, i can get better pings, but my monthly quota doesn't allow for such liberal downloading.

Seriously, that sucks. I hate ISP's that don't allow you to download more than etc. 1-5 GB a month. My ISP has no limit, thankgod, or else I wouldn't have chosen them at all.

1 gB, for someone that plays a lot of games online, sucks.

Luckily I can play as much Counter-Strike as i want. (and most other popular games).

Thievery, however, isn't popular enough for my ISP to run a server which doesn't count towards my limit.

Everyone email telstra for a TUT server!

Maybe you should change ISP instead?

It's either Telstra ADSL (only broadband availible to me) or 56k.

They have a monopoly, in my area they are the only availible ISP with broadband.

(except satellite, but thats worse than ADSL)

I'm not on 56k anymore, but when I was 10 megs was about max. When it worked well I could handle 15, but the con had a two hour disconnect and was sometimes patchy.
