A bheil Ga'idhlig agaibh?....Do you speak gaelic?.....S math sin! De' thuirt thu? ah waitaminute...this all Irish....anyone speak scots then? I grew up speaking that garbled tongue..and truth be told...Irish ga'idhlig derived from the Scots..Can a-rithist sin? Say again? Yes many an arguement about the whole who started it first but looking at the geography it seems that scotland got it from indo europe and the norse,t then passed it along. However its all debateable as each has their own dialect. English came from the latin in anycase. It's good to see that any form of the gaelic is making a comeback. Here is a well known joake, it just floored em up in Thurso...

"Co' an caora sin co'mhla riut a chunnaic mi an-raoir?"

"Cha b'e sin caora, 'se sin mo che'ile a bha innte!!"

translation...."Who was that sheep I saw you with last night?"

"That was no sheep, (ye clarty @#$) that was ma wife" badaboom

    Mar sin leibh an dra'sda....

    Its called Irish!!

Gaelic usually refers to the Scots Gaelic derivative of Irish or that group of languages generally. Though in Irish, "Irish" is "Gaelige". Yerra.

Créid é no na creid, ach bhي mé staidéar Gaelige sa scoil... Sinne Fianna Fلil etc etc.
