  • Lame Guard Tactics

I'd like to get a list of lame guard tactics, that is, those sorts of tactics where you feel as it the game was won in a less than honorable way. Please NOTE that I don't wish to debate what is lame and what is not lame nor do I care about thief behavior in this thread.

The reason I need this list is because the [RLF] is considering a 'honor code' for it's members for the express purpose of making the game fun for all that play.

    My short list:
    1) Firebolt spaming
    2) Stacking items on objectives. (this includes crates now)
    3) Completely blocking doors with the whistler or chest.
    4) Pincushioning chests which contain objectives.
    5) Spawnraping.

    No others come to mind.
If you can think of more, please post here.

    Using firebolts for spawnraping.

Wasnt it that gerbil guy that was firespamming the crypts with his 6 firebolts yesterday?

        Two items, Gerb?

Well, spawnraping WAS a lame tactic but that's been dealth with (although 10 seconds is a bit much, i think)
Shadowslashing is pretty lame. Umm... I'm spent. =P

The only thing that bothers me is spawnraping of any kind.

            That deserves comment.
Can spawnraping still occur with the 10 second invis?
I'd think that guards in spawn areas would be KO bait.

Invisibility is no protection for firebolts.

In 1.2 that would be a big issue, but in 1.3 that is a guard's advantage since they get to respawn with a totally new loadout. If there was a guard in my spawn area I wouldn't KO him (ghosting aside) because that's probably what he's after. Maybe kill him, but that's pricey with only 5 broadheads, the smartest thing to do would to be just run, and even though they are invis they still make noise and if a guard is spawnraping chances are he has enough firebolts to catch the thief on fire.

Spawn invisibility aside, guards should not be spawnraping. It definitely falls under lame, it's already against RLF rules to my knowledge, and it's a bannable offense on most servers.

Add "Pincushioning objective chests" to that list please.

I think that falls under putting -anything- on an objective.

I spawned in the house in theatre and by the time I got out I was no longer invis, just to see Nem run over and shoot at me.
                          The only constant is change.
(And I wouldn't have it any other way.)

I assume you're talking about doorblocking. That isn't a lame tactic, but a hard to counter one. Decoy arrows are useful here, and there are a couple other counters I won't get into here.
