This is UNFORGIVABLE!

Argh. Its been all day now that i've been playing Thievery, and despite the fact that it's a very good mod, it is absolutely worthless with the lag spurts i am expiriencing. Sometimes it will show me the disconnection symbol at the right of my hud then it will act as if im in a server all to my own. No objects can be interacted with, noone is around. Then the other times that this putrid state happens is mostly when there is a gaurd attacking me. He will draw forth his Mace, and then i go to laghell. It only comes back together a few seconds later when im staring in third person at my beloved loot and catfall potions.

Sometimes it even registers that a bot killed me as much as 60 seconds ago. Thinking i escaped safely, i settle down in a shadowey corner to drink some potions, and then i get killed for no obvious reason. I cant even see the bot that killed me.

This is rediculous. And don't say its MY machine, Mr. Verant Employee, i'm on a 1mbit connection.

If this happens on every server, it probably is your connection. Have you checked your ingame netstats to get your ping and packet loss? Press F7 while connected and it will show you those. Also try running traceroutes to the servers in question, that can show you if there's a bottleneck up the line a bit, or if it's in your own ISP's neighborhood. It's possible THEY'RE the ones having the problem. I've just switced ISP's for that very reason. Three months of trying to get them to fix 2000-3000 ms lag spikes and double-digit packet loss just didn't cut it.

Also, please tell me that 1 Mbit connection you're on is cable or DSL, and not satellite. If it's satellite, that's your problem right there. Satellite is a high speed connection, but it's also a high latency connection, and that'll kill you dead.

Maybe not, but your ISP's tech support does. If you don't get satisfaction at first, make a LOT of noise. You're paying them 2-4 times what you would be paying for dialup, after all, and you're paying that for PERFORMANCE. Performance you're not getting, as it sounds like your situation is worse than many dialup players. If tech support can't/won't help you demand they escalate the call, or ask to speak to their supervisor, or possibly one of their network engineers (most call center emplyees are NOT engineers, after all). Do NOT give up, or let them off the phone until you have some satisfaction, or are assured that you will. Remember, they're in a SERVICE business, they should be giving you the service you're paying for. Investigate other broadband ISP's available to you, and mention what their terms are during your call, particularly if you've ended up speaking to a supervisor.

One word of caution: It's OK to sound angry, and use a raised tone of voice if you're not getting the help you need. It is NOT OK to swear, threaten, or become otherwise verbally abusive. Most customer service centers have rules that their reps are not allowed to hang up on you. Those rules are voided in the case of abusive calls. As long as you don't become abusive, they most likely can't just disconnect you, and will eventually agree to look into the matter just to get you off the phone.

Be sure you follow up.

Actually played EQ a fair amount, but nowhere NEAR the amount as a bunch of people I know. I know a guy at work who proudly claimed that he never missed a day of playing in 2+ years

There are however, better MMORPGs out there, Freelancer is going to be great, and soon imma have a subscription for <a href=http://www.shatteredgalaxy.com> Shattered Galaxy </a> the world's first ever MMORTS.

I'm serious, that game is great.

Im 56k living in aussie,
hence I get on all thievery servers 400-600 ping, I can still play and easily can best some good players.

So stop complaining AND START ADJUSTING !
