    What's the origin behind your player/forum name(s)?

    I'll start:

I go by a few names online. One is BobTheDog. Bob The Dog is a random creation I made one day. I basically drew a simple cartoon dog with a pencil that said: Bob The Dog says, "Now you've gone too far!" A year or so later I saw it and it didn't make any sense to me. One day I needed a new alias online and decided to use it.

I won't even try to repost everthing from this thread:
Through the Looking Glass dedicated to Looking Glass Studios, Irrational Games and other high quality games such as Thief, System Shock, BioShock, Oblivion, Dark Messiah, Arx Fatalis and more!
BobTheDog says, "Now you've gone too far!"

    Whoah. Deja vu....

Like with most things I do, I started out observing in Thievery. Since spectators in Thievery are rats, I spectated under the name "Rat". Watched a particularly humorous game one night, everyone was laughing, so I changed my name to "LaughingRat", and it just kind of stuck.

a friend of mine was letting me play Q3 for the first time when it was new. he told me to change the player name "so as not to soil his name with bad playing" (nevermind his name at the time was "goathammer"). the first thing that sprung to mind was Thwark, cuz, to me, it sounds like a bullet hitting metal, and it IS Q3.

apparently, Thwark is also the name of a written korean vowel.

the addition of "is a llama" came after i saw The Emperor's New Groove. At the time i was on dial-up, so I changed my alternate nick to "Thwark Is A Llama". it stuck. It's the name i do my solo music under, usually.
I'm not so bad... Once you get to know me.

I have used this name since BBS days... not sure exactly where I came up with it, but I know it sounded cool to me.

Thought for the day: Beware of Gods who do not laugh

I'm too lazy to write all this again, so I'm just gonna cut and paste...

It all started when I got SWAT 2, and the briefing officer (Alvarez or something like that), in the bank robbery mission, calls the incident "SNAFU'ed bank robbery". I liked the way it sounded, but didn't know what it meant, so I asked my dad (he's military, and I had heard military guys use it before). He tells me, and explains some other acronyms to me. I first used FUBAR online when I played TFC. I tried using it in Fallout, and it just seemed so... right. Like Ian, saying "What's up FUBAR?", just sounded so right.

I first tried SNAFU in Fallout, as well. It really came alive when I went into Shady Sands, and decided to take some potshots at the cows in that pen. It was supposed to be good juvenile fun, but then the cows got pissed, and I couldn't get out of combat mode, so I was forced to kill all of them so I could get out of it, and leave the pen. THEN all the frickin' people in the town run away from me, and then the armed guards attack me. I'm forced to gun down EVERYONE; men, women, children. I figure all the stuff on their bodies will go to waste, so I loot them and then escape into the night, leaving the homely village a ghost town...

Things get kind of fuzzy from there, but let's just say the Hub wasn't very lively once I left it...

I got as far as Necropolis before I finally realized I liked being feared...

Hard to believe what started out as playful "cow-ripping" turned into one giant post-apocalyptic mass murder spree...

                Blah.

Altered Beast, now that was a cool game

I've gone through this before, but...

                  Entropy

I've had it since Q2/Q3 beta when I first started playing on LANs and the net. Prior to this my only online gaming was on an old UNIX/telnet based Aussie MUD, called 'The Edge', where I was known as Baron aka The Red Baron. So when I started playing FPS multiplayer I needed something a little more...aggressive. Since I was studying, amongst other things, university Chemistry at the time, I was aware that Entropy is a measure of the disorder in a chemical/physical system at a given moment. That seemed just right for me

I had encountered the term before, in DnD basic edition, where the Spheres you can progress immortal characters into include Entropy. In this broader sense it means chaos, disorder, and is the state that the universe inevitably slides towards, hence the popular understanding that Entropy will inevitably win I have heard it said that it has some other meaning in engineering. Finally I have run into numerous references in books and the like, especially fantasy fiction, where it is used to represent chaos or occasionally 'evil' where evil is sometimes considered analagous to disorder.

Well, the whole V12US thing just was a nick I started using when one of my friends actually called me a virus because I was allways leeching stuff of him. :p

                          Not really that interesting...

Lately though, I have been using a nick that might need some more explanation.
If you have seen someone in the servers go by the name (¯'·._.·[Aeria]·._.·'¯) than that was me...
Well not exactly like that, since UT has a character limit for names and I had to shorten it a bit. :x

Anyways, Aeria translated from Latin means "Hawk's nest", "surface" or "Sky", just for those who were wondering... and I got it from the Themesong of the new Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex, listen to it here.

These are the lyrics when translated.

Angels and demons circled above me

I am called... called at night
                          spirits rising, calling
                          To remain with you longer
Calling, falling, if you remember me
                          I'll remain with you longer
