  • Thievery Haiku

Inspired by a game last night:

    Whistler blocking vent
    CrouchingDork's plaintive lament,
    "OMG, Lamer!"

It's a structured form of poetry. Japanese in origin.

          Line 1 has five syllables.
          Line 2 has seven syllables.
          Line 3 has five syllables.

And usually the topic is some natural event or phenomenon, or the poem comments on some aspect of existence/life/being.

            "Today, a flower.
            Tomorrow, a rotting husk.
            How uncertain, life."

A number of people have taken to writing computer related haiku as well, as the sentiments often expressed are somewhat melancholy in tone, and express what some people feel at the problems they encounter with computers.

              Mistake - "format C:"
              Electronic, spinning whir.
              Your data is gone.

                First, five syllables,
                Followed by seven further,
                Then, another five.

                  Truly stated thus
A true poet I am not
                  Thus no rhyme from me
Give some taffer fire, and you'll keep him warm for the night with one less reason to cause trouble for the master.
Set a taffer on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life, and have no need to bother the master.

                    Haiku need not rhyme.
Just five, then seven, then five,
                    Is the form one takes.

                          Counter-Strike:

                          Fire in the hole!
                          Grenade flies towards the goal
                          Kills the final soul.

                          Food poisoning:

                          Chicken in a soup
With some beans and radioactive goop
                          How low can you stoop?

                            I did not say that
                            I said that firespamming sucks
                            and that I was stuck.

Oh, and I put out those torches in the apartments for a REASON, btw. I was planning to try and let my teammate in to get me supplies, but he died. I was making sure that I'd be OK if the guards got in.
                            The only constant is change.
(And I wouldn't have it any other way.)
