  • Thievery: A timed released program?

This will sound insane to many.. but there is something I have been noticing lately about ThieveryUT.

I started playing about .. oh.. 2 months ago i think... and I remember being the newbie sucking really badly... (i still have my good days and bad weeks). Anyway.. one thing I noticed as a newbie was the funny sayings that the guards and other AI would say. And I remember getting so tired of hearing "Ze say Zings are happening, have you heard anyzing?" over and over. It was still funny.. but for the first part of the first month.. i only heard that one and "My Feet, Ze Ache" and maybe 2 or 3 other sayings.. every day.. all the time.. every game.. every server.. same sayings.. so i came to believe there was only 5 or 6 sayings.. After about 3 weeks, I heard an AI say "Who Cares?" and I was stunned! I was like what?! a new saying? and it was the same old levels and same old servers... Then more and more new sayings came along as I played more. Now I never hear "My feet, Ze Ache" more than once or twice a week. And i haven't heard "Ze say Zings are happening, have you heard anyzing?" in about 3 weeks.

Also, I got used to where the eye of fire in the rectory was when i first started.. it was always...always.... always in that dining room. All of a sudden it moved 8 out of 10 times to the upstairs room with the window entrance. and the other 2 times it was either in the fireplace room or in the balcony bedroom. Nowadays.. it randomizes much better... but at first it was always in that dining room.

Is there some sort of hidden time release in the game that unlocks things the more hours that are played? I mean it can't be my individual game since its multiplayer and everyone is hearing it. So is it time releasing on how many hours its played on the server?

Cuz its seriously messed up, but cool!

    Am I insane?!?!?!?

Most people either never get killed by an AI guard (you should feel bad if you do, they're too stupid to go after you much of the time) or if they are killed they just respawn right away. But the AI always have something fun to say after killing a taffer, such as "The boss'll give me a bonus for this!"

I just started hearing that "Boss will give bonus" one too. And occasionally.. I will se an AI do the Victory Taunt after killing a thief.

P.S. Eric.. is that avatar a picture of you?

If us players are lucky, AI will have more to say in 1.3. If we're really lucky, human guards and thieves will have more to say too.

The only thing thieves will be able to say is "ARRRRRGHHHHHH" before they die

Knecht did that to my dead body... well, tried to, I KOed him before he could finish doing it.

              The only constant is change.

I believe a random number generator would determine the AI sayings on each account. In most cases these number generators aren't random at all (due to a computers limitation to produce a completely unexpected environment such as we live in). In other words, I wouldn't be surprised that some sayings have yet to be produced at all for some gamers.

Just the other day I caught an AI saying to himself it was nearly payday then he shocked the hell out of me!
He said something like 'I can't wait to get my payout!' and did the fist down, knee up YESSSAAH! pose (you know the one I mean....).

Then he just carried on patrolling! I've been playing months and I've NEVER seen that one before!

aww, come on Impulse. random generation is still pretty good... maybe the chances of some of these things happening is just *really* small.

Perhaps this Timed Release stuff isn't such nonsense as I thought earlier, I have found the Sewer lids on Nostalgia are suddenly opening the correct way! :?
