  • While we wait for Thief 3

It's not a long wait for the US taffers, less than two weeks actually. Poor me gotta wait an extra month for the most anticipated game ever.

Anyway, Digital Nightfall over at TTLG, who was lucky enough to get to visit Ion Storm and play Thief 3 with Saam (another TTLG taffer, the founder actually), has put out both his final preview of Thief 3, and a shakycam video (without any game sound) of him playing. Finally we get to see someone sneaking past the guards instead of going on a K.O. spree.

      Indeed.

At first, when the X-Box previews and videos were sent out, I didn't really anticipate so much from Thief 3. But after reading the last PC-reviews, I just gotta say that I can't wait.

When I met up with Saam, Digi, Harvey (Dues Ex designer) and Randy Smith (project leader of Thief) ahhh what can I say. I was in heaven last weekend.

Now, when I sit there, and look at the lock being in the CENTER of a door, I look at the "Blizzard" scrap paper stack on the left of my desk. Then I think "Who was smocking what?"

And that picture of Garret (?) on the loading screen was just disturbing. :x

I would not trust a review either. The best review is ALWAYS your own. But it's much more dificult to judge a game if you dont have a demo available.

Nice Preview and a cool movie

MB is gotta be happy with this :

Speaking of crates, while they are not AI per say, they do have quite a bit of personality. You encounter crates almost immediately, and they range greatly in shape and size! They are very stackable, and very climbable, though it’s not quite as easy to do. Or, at least, we’ll have to tweak our crate stacking techniques for the new physics. Big crates can now be pushed, and small crates still disintegrate into a pile of dust if you stress them out too much. Oh, and I should mention the beauty of hiding in a shadow you created by stacking crates. Pushed objects, such as crates and barrels, do not move immediately. As you apply force over time, the object will begin to move, and gain speed.

I can see Garrett hiding behind a crate and dragging it along through a well lit room, staying in it's shadow. Bugs bunny style.

lol, perhaps they have the right music to go with that, and a tiptoe sound effect

Thanks for the links Mode, plenty of interesting stuff there. They were listening to my staple mapping album in the video too
