  • MOG, Please trim the time on your server.

    We are getting caught in games where a single DM thief spends the last 20 minutes trying to snipe the remaining guards. That means all the dead theives and guards are often leaving for other servers.

    20 minutes added to the game is way too much. I really like your server and respectfully request you change it.

    Others feel the same way.

          And did this guy win? If so, tough luck. If not, why are you complaining?

          Just because you lack the patience to wait for the thief (or the tenacity to go look for the bastard), doesn't mean that every server should conform to your ideals. I hope Mog doesn't change it; I like it.

                I have to say that the long times are rather annoying. It usually (and i mean usually, like 1 out of 5 games) ends with some thief just not doing anything useful and two guards camping the objectives, and all the other players having to wait for 20 minutes (take away 10-15 mins and it'll be fine), DM or no DM. It's just boring to have to wait 20 mins, and i usually do something unnecesary (as stopping camping and roaming around when i could just sit down at the objective and win) or leaving the server. I've never ever seen a thief win alone in the last 10 minutes. They either win earlier or die earlier, if they are moving. The increased time just makes them sit down doing nothing in the hopes of guards getting even more bored and leaving the objectives clear, which would never happen in a championship or "official" match.

                  And why does the guards have to CAMP the objectives? If they would actually go and SEARCH for the thieves, the game would end quicker. One of the reasons for the game to last so long, is that the guards camp an objective so heavily, that the thieves have almost no chance to get it. And most players dont wanna rush the room, just to end the game quicker, will they?

                  It's easy for you to complain about this MG, cause you're a guard-only. Maybe if you changed the WAY you guarded, it would make it more fun for you tilll the last second. I NEVER complain about getting bored when I guard. Cause then I'll just go and hunt, instead of camp.

                    I was on with at least 3 other people annoyed at the game today.
                    Tat(CTG) and Daniel come to mind. They'll post if they care.

                    This has nothing to do with guarding/thieving preferences, it has everything to do with a game getting the hell blasted out of it in 10 minutes and people being forced to wait 30 minutes for the next game.

                    People where complaining about it today, I'm letting MOG know, it's his server and he'll do as he wants. IMHO +20 added to a map just creates room for jerky behavior.

                      And some good games too!

                      If a thief is just taffing about, to make the game last until the time runs out, cast a changemap-vote. Problem solved.

                      Btw, isn't CTG's server set to 40 minutes as well?

                        The time should be 30 minutes. right now, it's just rediculous.

                          Well, Rather than shooting you down like most other people have decided to do...

                          I too wouldn't mind if the time limit was reduced somewhat.

                          I'm not entirely sure what the time limit is now (40 minutes was my guess) I wouldn't mind at all dropping that to 30 minutes +(10 minute modifier).

                          It's sometimes neat to have to 'beat the clock'.

                              Indeed , I think 25-30 minutes (depending on the map , say , 25 for Flats or Spider and 30 for Bourgeois or Gerome) is the best timing possible. Ghosters are frustrated when they don't have the time to get the loot , while thieves and guards camp forever on 40 minutes games , making it incredibly boring for spectators (nothing happens during most of the game)
