correct me if i missed something, but it seems like thievery is only available as a MS Windows binary or .rar

is there any way that the files could be distributed in a more, umm, system independent way? this seems like a critical oversight.

oh yeah. the .umod format would be good. unless you guys have your own compiled binaries in the mix or something weird like that.

Thievery installs executables, DLLs and other crap as well. It's not your average mod, which should be obvious when you consider the sheer file size.

As for system independence, you can get programs that unRAR files for various platforms, but Thievery is for Windows only so it doesn't matter.

          Indeed it is.

          But really... the options are:

          1) Windows and Thievery.
          2) Something else and NO Thievery.

I know which one I'm picking.

            You missed one:

            3) Linux, Wine and Thievery.

What about people who don't have a personal computer at all?

              They still exist you know.

Maybe we should be thinking about a thievery board game

I have a feeling it would end up as more of a Thievery BORED game, though. You know how it would go. The players playing thieves would mostly get eliminated, and the 1 remaining would start using up the huge amount of time alloted, taking forever to roll his dice, moving only one space at a time on the board....

I forgot to mention the part about knocking the guard players dice off the table.

I just use Wine with OpenGL, though I am sure WineX with DirectX would work also.
