  • @^@#%^#%@!!!!!

    Setting: Nostalgia
    Me: Thief
    Dragon: Guard

So I spawn as a thief, head for the front yard and hide in the shadows (I WAS NOT HEARD NOR SEEN BY ANY GUARD)

Then, suddenly Dragon appears on the scene, whips out flares ,randomly scans the surroundings and heads straight for me... As soon as he sets sight on me, I get hammered with several firebolts and tagbolts before he gives me the old onetwo...
I HAD FUCKING SPAWNED 10 SECONDS AGO DAMNIT!

What the fuck?! What the hell is he doing in the garden for christs sake anyway?! There is loot to defend! This is exactly the type of fucking behaviour I was talking about a while back, guards not giving a shit about whatever they have to defend and heading straight for the thieves spawn... except they make sure they don't cross the line because "We're not spawnrapers!!"

    BULLSHIT!!!!

YOURE OBSTRUCTING THEIR WAY OUT OF SPAWN MISTER.
Now I couldn't care less if this was Gerome, Grange or whatever, those maps have MULTIPLE spawn exit's. BUT NOSTALGIA HAS ONLY ONE, SO GUARDING THAT AREA IS SPAWNRAPING MY DEAR READERS.

If this were folly, and he killed me just when I ran out of the dark area, that would've been spawnraping right? Why not Nostalgia then? The situation is similar...

Maybe something should be implemented that required the guard to verify an objective item in order to recieve any messages when it is stolen or something, this idea has it's own problems I know, but something has to be implemented to stop this rushing nonsense...

Excuse me for the rough language but I'm just ROYALLY FUCKING PISSED!

I can think of at least four ways out of the thief spawn on Nostalgia, with many variations on each. Against situations like that, however, I have found the Gerbil Pause to be quite effective.
Nearly all men can stand adversity -- if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.

in Dragon's defense you could have used the sewers...

in his offense that's a really shitty thing to do and lots of guards do it... why rush out to the front yard at the start of the game and risk getting BJd in the shadows before they get a chance to steal anything?

your post made me wonder about the stairs out of the thief spawn in DE... would that be considered a spawn area?

If you don't like it, don't whine. Play on another server. Let everyone else who CAN get past the mad melee in the Nostalgia yard play their game because they are obviously more skilled than you are because the game is perfectly balanced.

while that was kind of lame, this brings up a good point

most thieves are whiners (no offense). seriously. some thieves complain that guards camp the objectives or entrances. others complain that they patrol.

while that was wrong what he did, just remember this before you complain again. being a guard is harder than you think. we get yelled at a lot. if you do a successful trap and guarding you get called a camper (by at least 1 or 2 thieves). if you patrol or hunt you get called a lamer.

just like with thieves. if they blackjack at least one or 2 guards will call think of them as a dm'er. and if they ghost, well. they get congratulated (but the game becomes so long. heh)

so before we yell at each others and crap. just remember. no matter what either side does they get yelled at or at least the other side is annoyed.

            btw, nice rainbow effect. :p

Oh, next time on aqua I'll slice your spawning ass and call you a skill lacking fool when you start whining.

I was allready in garden, allbeit for a mere 5 seconds, he just ran towards my area with a flare and firespammed when he saw me. Now I wouldn't mind it when he actually saw me gp there, which he didn't... but he just came around a corner, ran my way and flarescanned the area...

Exactly my point. This thing frequently happens on maps as spiders and DE as well, and I hate guards who do it just as much whether I'm a Guard or a Thief... You are effectively throwing away a guard life by pinning your ass down on an unimportant spot, their guarding skills could be better used at more important spots, where thieves have to go as well... nay, instead they opt to go someplace where they can slaughter the thieves before they even had a chance, that's just as lame for the guards as it is for the thieves, because allthough the thieves only got to live for less than a minute, the guards who were expecting an exiting match get their asses shoved off the chart because their buddy decided to end the match before it even begun.

Hmm, nope... the cellblock area has several exits that lead to different locations, making them uncoverable for one guard... as oposed to Nostalgia, where all the exit's lead to one generic area, the frontyard.

Maybe the sewer should be extended to have one or two exits in the backyard as well, forcing the guards to go setup a defense perimeter near the objectives in the beginning of the match.

This isn't anything else 'but a whining thread, Virus.

Instead of just jumping down in the garden, maybe you should have waited and look for guards? And then, you could have walked ON the wall to one of teh sides before you jumped down. Then you could slowly walk to the back of the house etc.

Look at it this way: When Dragon was busy killing you, someone else grabbed the loot he didn't guard.

You do know you can get on the wall to the left of the spawn area, as long as you have a rope arrow(which any thief who expects to get out alive will have anyway). This gives you two more places to enter the level without a catfall, and many more with a catfall.

This reminds me of several occasions in which the guards on DE felt that instead of actually guarding they should camp the spawn. So we KOed all of them, and then they started whining about "dm thieves" or whatever. Huh? If the guards are going to run around in the dark instead of guarding, what do they expect?

Welcome to the TUT community, Virus. About time you got with the program. *Grin*

If I had a nickel for every time I heard the argument I used against you used against me, I'd have enough cash to fully pay for the purchase price of NOLF2 so I would have sufficient reason to uninstall UT. Everyone and their dog has had a turn calling people like Gerbil and me 'whiners' and 'lacking in skill'. So, turnabout is fair play...

hehe, well i dont really agree that thats spawnraping. I mean as long as the guards doesn't kill you when you are buying stuff or kill you just when you have. You will have to take other ways or wait or something...
