  • Garlisk's Plight. (Asking for info on textures, with a comic!)

Would these be good enough for concept art? I think they need more detail. I'm just not sure how I can spice em up.

"It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to..."

Garlisk: Use Adobe Photoshop, it rocks. Google for Phong and 3DBuzz.

I'd also highly recommend a book: SAMS Teach Yourself Photoshop in 24 hours. That gave me all the grounding I needed to start experimenting; a lot of tutorials out there require similar grounding, or at least make more sense when you aren't just reproducing settings but understand what's going on and also what different directions you could take a piece of work in at every step.

Wow that was the best comic yet!!! OMG I like laughed so hard and stuff, at the funny antics of that poor helpless artist trying to like find his way in today's technologically advanced world and stuff

wait a sec... I missed the point.

No original ideas? - c'mon Garlisk, give yourself some credit, plus your a budding talent, chin up!

Here's a nice site. Tells you how to make a tileable texture out of anything.
However, I've found that adding horizontal and vertical only displacements helps fill out some bad spots.

Anyone halfway decent can make concept art. Sure, thats something I could do, but I need more.

I'm not just interested in wall texture type stuff, but also skinning...so any info on either of those.

Skinning? Why didn't you say so?

First, get yourself one of these:

While I am glad that I inspired you, Merc, I'm sorry to say that you're not halfway decent.

You're about 1/12th way decent...maybe 1/15th way. Lets just say we know you know how to move your mouse.

Obviously Garlisk, your statement was a little too broad. Detailed sketches, you know? Not a whole lot can do that.

But go ahead, skin for all I care! I hope you only catch small woodland animals, and not the large ones!
