    I guess the explosion that killed him was caused due to the nature of being an elemantalist and running around Strained with all that stuff.

    He survived the poison of a spider while he got sick of Kobold meat and right after the poison had worn off with about 4 hitpoints left he came across a "neutral" female bandit. After he engaged in a chat with her in which she told him how good life was with all the adventurers around those days- while he was happy to have survived the deadly poison without divine intervention that time- right then she backstabbed the good old assassin that was him! Oh the irony..

        No, I don't play ADOM. I am looking into it, however. (Read - I'll download it in the next 3 hours). I do play a good bit of T.O.M.E (A very extensive Angband variant), and some Angband every so often.

            Not TOMEnet. Too zangbandish for me, laggy response to C-Blue's server. Very, very cool game, though.

            I'm now plodding along with ADOM. Now, if only I could gain a level, before biting the big one...


            Speaking of TOME, I think I am doing pretty well there. Got 4 characters so far to level 50, one to Angband lvl 93, before being driven insane by a princess room full of druj.

                ADOM, don't tempt me...
                I was playing it a few years back.
                Then I switched back (again!) with Nethack & variants.

                *scours the old areas of harddrive that have been gathering dust*

                Hmm... My best highscore was 43501 points. I could've done better.

                  ADOM is singleplayer and a so called roguelike game. Nethack is another famous game of this kind which you might have heard about in Diablo reviews.
                  I did leave a link to the game's site in the first post.
                  Swiss if you play a Thief or an Assassin, they are more of the harder characters to play. Hence I played a trollish assassin to compensate for this.
                  I prefer bards or elementalists. The latter are quite easy when you can pick the PotentAura talent.

                    I stick with elementalists/beefy warriors myself. So far, more sucess with elementalists - it almost seems as if they can melee BETTER then warriors. And they pack numerous 1-shot-kill spells, to boot.

                    I have a lvl 6 one, right now, in the newbie cave - I heard that the enemies in it are scaled to your level... And I'm still on level 3. At what level am I going to be in BIG, BIG, BIG trouble there? And, on which levels are the objectvie items?

                      The dangerous cave from the girl's dog quest I assume.
                      Yes, when your character rises in lvls the monsters get tougher in there.
                      You'll come across "somewhat experienced" (or so)critters then.
                      In the 6th storey you can expect to find the puppy. If you plan on doing so
                      the best idea is to descend as fast as possible. I did it for the first time with that trollish assassin up there. You don't get anything as a reward except maybe for some more exp. But apart from the dog there's supposed to be an artifact item in that cave somewhere, too.
                      The giant ants pose a big threat. Poison(spiders, snakes), too.
                      Blink dogs and were creatures are bad, too. Worms maybe as well. All those three spawn new critters it seems.

                          Gah! I got down to dungeon level 5, but then decided to scramble, because I was running out of food. The things that I met on my way up were nasty, and I am only level 7. I think I'll leave that be.

                          As for the artifact - I found a "Silver Diadem of Beauty", which gives me +4 appearance. That it?

                            My favorite one is wielding a cockatrice corpse in Nethack and falling down a pit and then accidentally turning yourself to stone. One learns something new with every death and becomes wiser...

                              w. or wNumPad5 is quite useful. You wait till you regain some health or powerpoints
                              or something else happens. Better than keeping hitting the button.
                              Being level 7 in that dangerous cave is _very_ dangerous I'd say.
                              I don't know if that could be an artifact.

                              I finally got a bard kicking. He's level 6 and the first I tamed critters with and learned a spell with (frostbolt cool! ). Oh and the first to get a bug other than the one you get when you pick the skilled talent. (My silver wolf got poisoned by a cobra, the cobra was dead when his health dropped to a stage where he "decide[d] to fight to the death" but had no target anymore. At least that's how I think getting

                              If you do the quest to kill the raider that's roaming the countryside you get 3000 gold.
                              Not bad at all.
                              (Still gotta do it with the bard, but I think he won't cuz he's too weak for that and it's not available after you finish the druid's quest).

                              EDIT: If I only could get into Nethack..
