now i need to buy my own copy (you know how brothers are; he won't let me buy or have his even if he doesn't use it) and i was wondering if i should get the GOTY edition even though i'll never play UT itself (not much n e way) in case i need the extra things in it for something.

he does but he's just not the kind of dedicated player i am. he thinks thievery is too easy, that's y i want the new patch to come out soon. he's in fact just a 'lame' DMer and random shadow-slasher. can't play at all but has a big ego n e way too.

You might as well get the GOTY edition. It's going for $6-10 US, and is probably the only thing you'll be able to find, anyway.

Buy the "totally unreal" pack if you like SP , it's not expensive at all.
Better yet : burn an UT cd. UT doesn't need cdkeys to play MP. You can send it to your friends and still play MP with them !

Get the GOTY edition, as it's fully patched so all you have to do afterwards is install Thivery
