  • Poll: If you were given the chance to enter the thief world?

You wake up at 4 am and suddenly your computer turns on. Someone starts talking to you and tells you to follow the yellow rat. You go back to sleep not knowing what just happend. When you wake up and go to work you see a car in a shape of a yellow rat. You follow it into an alleyway. There you meet your destiny. Strangers tell you that they can grant you access to the thief world. However you can only come back for a month to the real world. The rest of your time stays in the thief world. There is where you choose to be guard or thief. So you either take the red pill and follow the rat hole. Or you take the blue pill and wake up.

Just thought of this interesting poll. I personally would enter the thief world and try to be a master thief myself. The adrenaline rush would be amazing. Also the shape my body would be in would be incredible. Heck who wouldn't like to sneak in the shadows? Well I'll leave it at that. Post here with your comments and thoughts. Thank you for your interest in the poll.

LaughingRat is starting a pool on how long it will take Thwark to lock this one down. Please send $10 per timeslot picked to LaughingRat c/o Crackaz Thievery Guild. The winner will receive half the pot, with the remainder going to the RABRLF benevolent fund (Rodents Abused By RLF).

Rather than try to be a thief or a guard (both being quite hazardous occupations), I'd try and set myself up as a "respectable" businessman. Starting with a small shop I'd slowly build up my business empire through mundane goods while engaging in a few illegal sidelines (such as trading in illegal thief equipment, setting up gambling dens, indulging in smuggling etc). I would take care to keep my operations low-key in the beginning so that I stay below the radar of the Wardens and the City watch while still making a nice profit. I'd stay out of city politics as best I could, being a neutral party in all affairs (I'd deal with anyone, so long as their money is good) while making plenty of contacts.

Eventually I would become rich enough to buy myself a title and some land. I would have a nice (secure) little manor built for my girlfriend and I. I would consult the best thieves on how best to secure my estate and I would hire the best guards to defend us and our property. Other than that, I'd be happy with a small bit of political influence and enough wealth to spend the rest of my days in comfort.

Being a Thief may be cooler, but if you crossed me I could ensure that you were dead by the end of the week. As for Guards, well, I'd probably be the one paying your wages.

I don't see your post as a joke. So can you please explain to me what you find in my post that asks for a lockdown. Thanks. Also a normal citizen can be a businessman.

Really, I don't see what the big deal is either. I have wondered, what would I want to be in the Thief world. For the hard core thief players have done just that, have had discussions about it.
The players that balk at this, your not a hardcore thief player's, I would suspect. The immersion of the game has captivated many, and still does. So what, let him have his poll. Sheesh. :|

                  And the almighty footstep-arrow-of-doom!
                  The only constant is change.
(And I wouldn't have it any other way.)

It's nothing against you. It's just well known that Thwark dislikes polls.

                      I second that opinion.

                      Or am I thirding it...

                      Anyway, you're all fired!

*whispers to his trusted right-hand man* Change all the locks! I'm going down to the control room to rearrange the layout of the manor.

And get Benny to clean the toilets again.

Definately a thief. God it would be awesome to live in a world like that. It would be cool to sneak around, have those abilities... You KNOW the ch1x0rs would want j00! Great body, abilities, and all the fsking money you ever wanted (just steal it).

I found it kinda funny that no one has chosen the uber guard yet. Are the RLF that afraid of master thieves? I mean, if we truly were master thieves, you'd never know we were there... Either by just walking right past you, or sneaking up behind you making you take a nap...

Hehe, then after we pretty much made his house "unbreak-inable" (I don't care if it isn't a word!) we would just use the one secret way to get in we didn't tell him about, and that the DEV's didn't know about, heh.

You'd never find us, remember, we are master thieves.

This world for me.... Thievery's universe has zombies and people like Constantine and a supernatural element that, if real, would mean the end of scientific reason as we know it, and I would personally find that uncomfortable. Besides, most people in medieval times didn't live very long, (like in Thievery), and if you were caught once, you had a death sentence. Period. End of the Fun. Oh, and the disease and famine....naw, not for me. (And more importantly; there were no computers!!!)
...and all is silent, save the voice of the clock...
