I just downloaded 3d mark 2001 se, and ran the benchmark. I only got 298 points. Yes, you read that right, 298 points. This is incredibly sad, considering there are computers in my magazine that get 18,000 points. When I get my tax return, I am building a computer that should get around 13,500 points. It will be a huge difference going from 298 to 13,500. This is why all you Taffers kick my ass right now. Wait, just wait.........

Those benchmark programs are worthless. You can run them five times and get five completely different scores. Also, how many games these days list 3D Mark scores as a system requirement? Max Payne was the only one I ever saw that listed a 3D Mark score, and that's because the developer of Max Payne (Remedy) also developed the engine for 3D Mark.

The scores are pretty accurate, therefor it's usefull to see if your computer is running much slower then it should by comparing to others system with similar setups...
By the way, i get 13900 with my new computer in 3dmark 2001

Not with just a new computer. He needs a real ISP.

I've never heard of anyone who seriously believed that. Congrats, you're the first!

That's why I asked. Seems kinda silly getting an uber-machine (damn, there's that overuse of "uber" again...), only to keep that .5+ second latency....
