  • Sorry Guys

I just want to apologize for stealing your lives in the game tonight. I forget who was playing in that game, but anyway, my computer kept crashing to deskop adn saying an error message. Something about history-->ticks-->overloop, something, something. That's not exactly how it went ofcourse, but you get the idea. It was a fresh install of TUT. Anyone else having the same difficulty. Thanks, and again, sorry.

Never got that before. But if I want a smooth game, I usually need to reboot my computer before joining any games. If you still get that problem, reinstall/redownload. Make sure you have the latest UT patch. If you still get issues, repost later in the TECH/FAQ board.

I have EXACTLY the same problem somtimes,

I know it's going to happen because I move around in the game really jerky.

I re-installed but it appeared again, I find a clean reboot THEN run theivery fixes the problem.

(I'll list my system specs, tell me if theres anything common here so we can fix this bitch)

      Hardware:-
      2100XP Athlon.
      1 gig DDR Memory
Asus Geforce 4 4400 (2 Monitors connected, running ultramon software)
      1 CD-Burner (liteON)
      2 HDrives
Windows XP & Windows 98 duel booted, I run Thievery in XP due to the better ping i get.
Herculeas Gamesurround Muse XL sound card.
Not sure what MOBO, will post when I root out the serial number

      Software :-
      Windows XP
Latest UT Patched. (Clean install) with TUT ontop, I have NOTHING else on UT I think i loaded it up ONCE when i installed it.
      UltraMon (multiple monitor managment)
      Adaware (scans on startup)

I *think* thats everything, are there similar things in your system? I say this to try to isolate the problem, I feel DIRTY when i loose a life normally, never mind for no use what so ever!

      OH THE GUILT!

Started happening to me on DE since a few days ago... only happens on DE too, and I'm not sure, but I suspect this only happens on Crackaz as well, allthough I could be wrong on that...

The symptoms are that suddenly everything starts slowing down and your CPU starts rattling like mad, it could be compared to a sudden lagspike, but I think that isn't it, after that your TUT shuts down to the desktop with that familiar TICK LOOP error message...

Only started happening since a week or so...

Yeah! Thats EXACTLY what happens to me, the psudo laggyness thing and everything. I dont recall it only happening on Crackaz tho, but i wasn't checking that. I will do now tho.

I too have only been effected by this recently.

Thank goodness someone else is having similar problems. It first happend to me in Darkened Enlightenment, then Skeltston. I have to say though, your system is a heck of a lot better than mine. It's a Gateway Performance 650.

            PIII 650 MHz
            256 MB pc-100 SDRAM
            GeForce DDR
            1 CD burner
            30 gig HD
            Windows 98 Second Edition
            Soundblaster Live!

I installed UT, patched it to 436, then installed Thievery, then 1.2. Of note is that it only happens online; offline is fine. I get that connection-failing sign TUT gives you off to the side. And yes there was lag or something. Each time I got to a certain spot outside the walls of DE, it crashed with the tick loop thing. Maybe we should report this to the devs. Or maybe they're already fixing it in 1.3. The strange thing is, 4 months ago, when I was last playing Thievery due to a horrible computer problem, this never happened. TUT was very stable. I must have tried about 5 or 6 times the other night ( the first night in 4 months) to get online play to work for more than a few seconds, and failed miserably. Hope we can get this sorted out...

Well, the only thing that seems similar as regards system spec is the Geforce... is it a GF4?

I too have only recently aquired this problem, TUT used to be solid as a rock, never crash, never disconnect :-(

I would at least report it to the devs, it more people are getting the same error then I think they should fix things. as it stands it's rare and can be fixed with a clean boot.

BTW, i'm glad it wasn't just me either!!

Has there been a recent NVidia driver update?

Ha! I wish I had a G4. No, no my friend, the original GF 1. I say DDR because it's not the original original 256. And here's the 41.09 driver. Unfortunately, it screwed up the interface in WW2 Fighters by Janes, but that's all.

I wonder why all of a sudden this is happening...

I rebooted too, but the problem occured again. I've had it happen twice now, rebooting thievery or windows does NOT help, I think it's serverside.

Probably a Crackaz problem, since both of the times I git it, it happened on Crackaz.

Had the same problem one yesterday, but now its ok without any reason.
Odd, it never occurs in other games on Internet. Must be a server bug.
