  • Would there be interest in Ghosting TurfWars?

Lately the DM'ing on the servers has gotten really, really bad. In fact, most games I've been in lately are won by KO. Fine with me if people enjoy that, however, I'm quickly loosing interest in the turf wars if all they are going to be is DM fests.

A single DM'er can be a handful, but a team of them could pretty much wipe up the floor with a guard team, IMHO.

So, could we get 4 "ghosting/guard" guilds together and form a league? Maybe in return for ghosting the guards wouldn't "stack" items and use firebolts.

    Thoughts?

I agree that DMERS should be banned.
Creating a League could cause some confusion like and ending up spliting the community in half which is IMO far worse.
I would report a lame dmer rather than locking myself out just because i dont like them in that way you are giving those guys a chance to ruin TUT. Report lamers to the admins, they have already shown that they are responsible dont create mess just because some CS crazed players are poking around.

      Antero,

I don't think BJ Whoredom should be bannable. I don't think it is anything to 'report'. It is merely a matter of balance in my honest opinion. I think for a ghosting league to work the guards would have to give up 'stacking' and firebolt spamming.

But what do you consider stacking? Putting objects over objectives or make barricades?

I don't mind stacking of crates, they are made for that.
I don't mind a pile of thief bodies either.

However, today I saw potions, flares, bodies and enough other stuff so that I don't even think the item was frobbable.

Right now the RLF is considering a self imposed ban on some types of stacking of items on objectives.

I have seen those before (especially on late GMT hours) but i usually leave teh server or tell them to remove it.
Still i dont like the idea of having a ghsoting league it kinda creates a division.
If one would like to join that league he would be forced to join a guild and people who wouldnt join would be considered lame.
            Just my opinion

Why should we have such compromises? There is absolutely zero guarantee that stacking, and firebolt/tag bolt spamming will not take place. Ghosting, on the other hand, is a commitmant; you can't 'almost' ghost. Either you've KO'ed someone or you haven't.

To be quite frank, I don't trust you to play by your own rules MG and especially some of your RLF members. It's not like it's your fault, but if you want something enforced, enforce it with code. That would mean some script to destroy objects placed on or near objectives, or firebolts removed, etc. The "honor system" doesn't work for the less honorable among us; besides, there's always some way to bend around the rules, as I think some of your members have proved as of late. Perhaps you should keep a tighter reign on some of your own guild members before you start making suggestions to the public at large...

First, if there was going to be a self-imposed ban on the RLF, it would be something like "Only normal crates or barrels may be placed on the objective." I really doubt there would be an issue with enforcing it.

Second, I think that 1.3 will bring a lot of changes, and any decision on a ghosting league or the like should wait until after its release.

Exactly. As we will see in 1.3.
We should wait for 1.3, because we know that the Blackjack is being modified in it.
Either that or we break into Dalai's house, either way...
