  • Korman Revisited

So we have seen how guards can build huuuuggggeee fortresses to help them in guarding the rubys... But what can thieves do?
Well, after spending some time i came up with a nice idea for what thieves could do with a few crates.

I bring you... the alternate exit in Korman.
If you run run around in Korman you will probaly notice there is a hedge running around the graveyard and rectory... You might also know you can get ontop of this hedge. And then im sure you noticed this hedge runs all the way out to the wall surrounding Korman. Fortunatly Mordengaard was smart enough to place a few blockers here, so taffers wouldnt be crawling around on the wall... Or was he?

Altough the wall is fairly small, and you would think 1 crate would be enough... Well, it's not... But 2 is.
Using 2 crates you are able to get ontop of the blockers he placed and get to the exit in one piece with out having to deal with those pesky guards.

    Wicked sick.

If you have the time, and the guards are doing a poor job (In which case you might as well take the gates) You could build a stair from the ground and up to the wall.

    Happy taffering.

That's cool, but I know a way that you don't need a crate.

I've been waiting and waiting with a sense of dread for someone to find this ever since I noticed it myself when I was building Korman v3. It -is- technically a map bug in the same vein as the one on Theatre, so exploiting it is naughty, but I think it's fixed in v3 (never underestimate the ingenuity of the bored though).

No crates and more teamwork will get you the same result, but the gate keys are easy to get anyway.... *Shrug*

I love stuff like this. There's so many ways to beat the system for the clever in the Thief games.

True, but getting yourself through a camped gate with little or no equip can be difficult :p

This seems to be a big issue I noticed ingame. I guess I should have put this in that Secret Secret post. A lot of people don't yet know how to avoid overshooting their jumps. Like from the hedge maze to the wall in Gerome. (not the door ledge, the actual wall). And in the rafters in the display room in nostalgia...

                  Run and jump diagnol!

Give yourself room for a little error. I never fall off the rafters or over shoot the wall anymore. Its not foolproof... you do need to have a little experience with the jumps.. especially in theatre on the wall. But running diagnols gives you extra length for your jumps.

And if you are really good... Jump short and hold the jump button to mantle it. This works great if you are low on life and can't take the impact of some bigger jumps and have no catfall. you can fall for hundreds of feet theoretically and catch the wall and mantle it and lose no health.

Already knew about it, and I know Modetwo's way too.

For some reason, whenever I see Korman playing... it's not getting out for thieves that's the problem, its getting the ruby in the rectory, is it just me or what?
