Just finished building me up a computer, i used an
asus m2n32-sli deluxe wireless edition mobo,
        athlon 64x2 6400+ cpu,
        4 gb ram,
        2 x 100 gb sata raid 0,
bfg 8800 gt oc model, and
cooler master real power pro 650w nvidia sli ready power supply,
notice that last tidbit there, its kinda an afterthought, I had bought all the rest on thursday of last week and wasnt till saturday that I realized my old power supply wasnt gonna cut it, I went to frys and got this one on special, 129.99. and it has plenty of balls for any game I have thrown at it this last three days. If ne1 on here has any ideas of a good way to benchmark it I would like to hear it.

          Tis the season.....

I have my finger on the "Place Order" button right now actually:

          - Q6600 G0 Stepping Quad-Core
          - 2G OCZ 1066 5-5-5-15
          - Abit IP35V Mobo
          - eVGA 8800GT Superclock

I had it all ready to order yesterday.... but waited. Today I refreshed the cart, and the price of the CPU went down $4! woohoo Maybe I'll wait another day

Benchmarking CPUs properly requires specialist equipment and knowledge so I don't reckon your gonna be able to do that. Good PSU you got there though.

I've put my old 7800 back in after several reports of smoke like smells in the computer room, i had to visit safe mode twice to get the old drivers out and new ones in because of an oversight o n my part, but it all dont really matter as long as the soundcard suvives for my next pc, pc now at 23months and counting, 1 month to go!

I recently got a BFG GeForce 7800, its slightly better than my old ATI Radeon. I can't buy anything better at the moment really, I think my MoBo really needs updating ultimately.

Anyway, it runs Crysis very well with textures maxed, and pretty much everything else on med - low. Still looks pretty and plays well.

what was ur ati card? Btw im only 1, or Nvdia having better AA then ATI? By my geforce pcx 5300 is 2xAA enought to make everything look, like with 6xAA on ATI x-1950gt super, and i turned all AA optimizations off, thought its cuz of it, but still... Or ati supports different ati types and i just should choose it with ati tray tools?

The last card Fix had was the x1600pro.

My next card, which will probably be my first PCI-E one when I redo the mobo will be an Nvidia - I'll review and research at the time again prolly.

Nvidia and Intel are kicking AMD's ass on both fronts right now.

However, that said, my X800 could beat a X1600 hands down...
Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

True on Nvida and Intel, I'll need to balance prices performance at the time but unless things change that's the route I'll be taking.

As regards a X800 vs a x1600, the X800GTO (high end version of the 800) is slightly quicker according to a number of review sites (in the order of single figure FPS differences), but in general the x1600 is the faster card.

It always amazes me how fast our gaming cards are when I try and stick an openGL screen saver on at work and discover that the settings I were using for quality cannot even nearly be achieved! Even on the new vista box with a 3ghz processor struggles... shitty intel integrated gfx adapters.

Due to playing world of warcraft exclusively(as aposed to buying new games) until 13th august( havent play since and im gona play this weekend) - never fixed* this, but it doesnt really matter now as i am getting a new pc in december.

Im gona take my current pc out of its large tower and put it in another room(+blue ray drive) on a 40" LCD(its not mine), and use the gfx card mentioned above in a new tower.

*To clarify, i never fixed, not, i never solved, the problem was that the powersupply didnt fit to cards minimum spec, although i never did test with one that did fit it either.

                                [update]

Well, last week end i put it in the computer, with a 1000W PSU that i will use in my next computer, and while the graphical increase is less than i hope it is much more consistant than before.

There is also a major glitch that effects Abes exodus but not abe oddysee.
