  • Digital camera, Energie problem.

Ok, here is the deal. I have an digital camera and when i place my batteries in it it works wonderfull for 20 minutes. Then after those 20 minutes it says I need to change my batteries ... and after 2 minutes the camera can't be used. The batteries are empty.

Now the big problem is, the batteries aren't empty at all! When i check the energie it says it only lost a little bit of energie, meaning it could be used for atleast 2 hours. Yet the camera now doesn't accept them anymore ... I can't turn my cam on so i can take photo's.

Now I tried several batteries, but not recharable. I won't buy those ... because they cost alot and i'm not even sure if that will help. Now, does anyone else have the same problem, or had it? Or maby somebody could tell me what to do?

I would be very pleased if this problem was gone, since I was soo happy when i got it

Hope to hear from somebody soon

Buy those rechargable batteries, they're worth the price. Even if they won't help after a couple of months money paid for them will return in spared money.
Still, you can recharge normal batteries, but sometimes they "bleed".

All of electrical devices tend to use more power after warming up. Maybe the new batteries aren't warmed up. Yeah, their temperature is important also, it helps with faster flow of energy.

PS. Why do you need those extra 20 minutes? 20 minutes porn long is OK

I'm with Flack, buy the rechargeables. They may cost 5 times as much, but if you can use them even 6 times, you've saved money (and you should be able to use them FAR more than 6 times) In addition, you're throwing less toxic chemicals into landfill, so the environment wins, too. I'd recommend getting rechargeable NiMH's, not rechargeable alkalines or NiCads, because they'll last longer on a full charge, you'll be able to charge them more times, and NiMH's don't suffer from charge memory problems.

Ditto above on the NiMH rechargeable batteries. They are best for high drain devices such as camera. The main disadvantage is the shorter shelf (of course, they are rechgareable) and tend to die with little or no warning. Useable time is comparable with the disposable akalines. I use the quick charge variety in camera and have had no problems. I purchased 4AA's with charger at Wal-mart for less than $30. They have more then paid for themselves.

I would recommend calling the manufacturer cause they should last longer then 20 minutes.

Which camera are using? Exactly what kind of batteries? How do you check them? Not all batteries are created equal. If you are using lower grade batteries, they may have a voltage potential, but not the power to give the camera the current it needs. If you must use disposables, try the high endurance akaline type, or even industrial/professional grade akalines. Thes should last longer then the cheaper batteries, but approach the cost of the rechargables.

        Hope this helps.

I had similar issues with my digicam... it seems only the rechargeable batteries work fine with it.

Yes, changed the batteries a month ago ( this threead is very old )
It worked, i guess the other rechargeble batteries were dull.
